The staff at The Holistic BodyLab works to maintain long-term health with natural, non-pharmaceutical treatments. Led by in-house medical director, Dr. Joseph Maides, and natural medicine doctor, Kevin Gill, they blend spa treatments, such as facials, with holistic treatments, such as massage, in order to revivify bodies both inside and out. This mix of modern medicine and age-old spa treatments aims to both soothe and heal, just like all those old lullabies about mockingbirds curing babies' tension headaches.
AnimalSense began in 1999 with a set mission to help dog owners live peacefully with their dogs, by using training methods backed by the steady hand of science. Classes only ever teach dog-friendly methods of positive reinforcement, a pleasant, pain-free experience for dog and owner alike. Class sizes are limited to allow for one-on-one instruction. The variety of classes available makes enrollment in the program sensible for beginners and previously trained dogs alike. Classes include options for dogs of mostly all temperaments, from a session for shy dogs, to Intro to Agility for fledgling performance hounds. This Groupon is not valid for special aggression classes such as Doggone Issues.
Inspired by a search for quality dog care for their own dog, the owners of Furtastik—finding no options that satisfied their wants—decided to create a 3.000-square-foot, climate-controlled space themselves. Now, they operate a hands-on, cheerful, and intimate facility for dogs and dog services. Licensed and accredited groomers sculpt away excess piles of fur after they clean, wash, and buff dogs into bright new existence, and organic food products line the front room for canine perusal. Meanwhile, daycare and boarding enrollments are limited to 20 and 10 dogs at a time, respectively, allowing for individual attention and care during the cage-free services.
Paws In Motion’s dog walkers Mariah, Michelle, and Gavin spread the love they have for their own pets to others’ furry friends during daily dog walks. The troupe scatters across the city, from downtown to Wicker Park, picking up pups along the way. Dogs leap at the ends of leashes, happily exploring the city’s parks and helping police officers chase squirrels back into trees. Though the team specializes in dogs, they also keep cats company with overnight stays while owners are away.
