Before graduating from the Capri Institute of Cosmetology, owner Sonia Bhambri honed her beauty skills in India. She merges her experiences at Sapphire Beauty Salon, offering Eastern and Western treatments that transform and enhance appearances. Bhambri removes unwanted hair with cotton threads, performing an ancient practice that sculpts eyebrows and eliminates delicate hairs, including peach fuzz and kiwi whiskers. Facials incorporate curative ingredients, such as herbs, minerals, and mud. Hair-design services and eyelash extensions accentuate natural beauty, and henna designs adorn the body.
Classified as Redken Elite Salons, both Metro Salons locations staff a stable of stylists who keep abreast of the latest techniques with ongoing training in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. What?s your favorite part about your job?
I enjoy the clients' reaction when they realize, "Yes this works." When my clients reach the finish line, their joy is my reward.
What is the best reaction you?ve ever gotten from a client?
I had a tiny, lively elderly lady ask me to get rid of her hair because she felt more like a grandpa instead of a grandma. When she was done, she got off of the table and jumped up and down and said, "I am no more Grandpa; I am Grandma again!" She was so happy.
What steps do you take to make your clients feel at ease?
I can truly relate to their hair issues and how it affects their self-esteem. I put my clients at ease immediately by showing them how much I understand their feelings. I explain the procedure in detail and let them know why electrolysis works. All questions are answered to the best of my ability before I begin treatments.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
In this day and age, everyone wants a quick fix for their problems. The most effective fix is not always the quickest. Clients need to educate themselves before using alternative hair-removal methods so they can understand why their hairs are increasing and not decreasing. This electrolysis, unlike other kinds, truly works on all skin colors and hair types and textures. The best investment is the one you make on yourself.
Beauty is serious business at Allure Plastic Surgery Center, and the company's four plastic surgeons have been trained accordingly. Dr. Elliot Heller co-founded the American Academy of Aesthetic and Restorative Surgery, and his colleagues boast board certifications and advanced training in specialties such as reconstructive surgery, microsurgery, and nonsurgical body-contouring alternatives. These physicians focus on keeping their visitors comfortable as they usher them through the surgical suite or into the office for outpatient procedures such as injecting Botox, exfoliating with microdermabrasion, performing laser hair-removal, or simply supplying ultra-flattering mirrors.
