Sisters Pooja and Cristal Sharma both had successful careers in chemical engineering and accounting, respectively, when they decided to immerse themselves in the study of yoga?s calming, restorative, and spiritual aspects. Now certified yoga teachers for more than a decade with more than 20,000 hours of experience, Pooja and Cristal guide students into seated and standing poses meant to realign the spine, strengthen the core, and increase flexibility. Their studio, Soul Power Yoga, opened in 2009 and holds daily classes that are geared toward newbies and pros alike. Special yoga classes even focus on expectant mothers or children ages 3-14. Additionally, a Bollywood Bliss class works out midsections with easy-to-follow belly dancing moves, while a Piloxing class combines Pilates, boxing, and dance. For those looking to become yoga instructors, the studio offers the RYS 200 Teacher Training program.

During his time as an athlete at Villanova University, Joseph Cilea, DC, saw firsthand the effects that focused training and dedicated care can have on the human body’s performance. One Doctorate of Chiropractic later, Dr. Cilea founded Advanced Wellness to bring crooked spines and health habits into alignment with an array of holistic services. Dr. Cilea mends musculoskeletal ailments ranging from arthritis to sport injuries with a three-phase treatment process, which focuses on initially reducing pain before stabilizing the weakened area and then strengthening surrounding muscles with exercises that simulate real-life movements, such as swinging a golf club or washing a spaceship. Advanced Wellness’s team of specialists also targets deeper health roadblocks with alternative treatments, including acupuncture, interventional pain management, and low-level laser therapy, and identifies potential allergies to more than 100 foods with the ALCAT testing system.
As the trainers at Fit for Life know, the pressure of gravity can hinder an effective workout—especially if you're injured. Because of this, they train healthy and injured exercisers alike on the use of the AlterG Anti-Gravity treadmill, which fuses the traditional exercise machine with a zero-gravity simulation device based on NASA-patented technology. Once the machine is activated, an inflating enclosure raises and expands around the runner's lower body. Using differential-air-pressure technology, the container adjusts the air to effectively reduce the runner's weight—allowing them to run, jog, or charleston with reduced joint impact. A touch-screen console, programmable workouts, and varying weight and speed settings help runners take on a different challenge each time they climb aboard.
Before he founded New Motive Hypnosis, certified personal trainer and nutritional consultant Patrick J. Murray was in search of new ways to help his clients achieve their goals. Soon, he discovered the powers of hypnosis, quickly earning the certifications to become a hypnotist and sports mental-performance coach through the American Board of Hypnotherapy. Through tailored meditation sessions, Patrick now bypasses the conscious mind and taps into long-held behavioral patterns and belief systems, which are stored in the subconscious mind in a box labeled ?Do Not Touch ? MGMT.? Through this process, Patrick helps his clients transcend instilled habits and reach their personal goals, whether they're to quit smoking, relieve stress, lose weight, or improve their sports performance
Savasana, a Sanskrit word, translates to corpse pose?but that doesn't really do the yoga pose justice. Typically done at the end of a yoga practice, savasana is best thought of as a therapeutic, relaxed state. It might include a guided visualization, soft music, or sometimes just mere relief to no longer be moving. Every class at B1 Yoga includes savasana, whether it's a gentle yoga class or the session that's geared specifically toward student athletes. At B1 Yoga, students of all abilities, shapes and sizes, and ages are welcome to practice. The studio offers group and private classes for adults, as well as classes for kids and teens. Yoga therapy consultations and reiki healing sessions are also available.
