With more than 25 years of experience grooming just-budding manes, Snip and Snap Kids owner Debbie and her staff turn mop-tops into smooth 'dos with a few precise clips. To create a successful distraction, the shop has transformed its styling seats into a parade of motorcycles, trains, and fire engines, and the waiting area boasts an array of child-friendly amusements, such as individual Playstations, Legos, foosball, and the occasional high-stakes poker tournament. Snip and Snap welcomes little ones for a first cut (a $13 value), girls (a $15 value), and boys (a $14 value) by appointment only.

What’s your favorite part about your job?
I enjoy the clients' reaction when they realize, "Yes this works." When my clients reach the finish line, their joy is my reward.
What is the best reaction you’ve ever gotten from a client?
I had a tiny, lively elderly lady ask me to get rid of her hair because she felt more like a grandpa instead of a grandma. When she was done, she got off of the table and jumped up and down and said, "I am no more Grandpa; I am Grandma again!" She was so happy.
What steps do you take to make your clients feel at ease?
I can truly relate to their hair issues and how it affects their self-esteem. I put my clients at ease immediately by showing them how much I understand their feelings. I explain the procedure in detail and let them know why electrolysis works. All questions are answered to the best of my ability before I begin treatments.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
In this day and age, everyone wants a quick fix for their problems. The most effective fix is not always the quickest. Clients need to educate themselves before using alternative hair-removal methods so they can understand why their hairs are increasing and not decreasing. This electrolysis, unlike other kinds, truly works on all skin colors and hair types and textures. The best investment is the one you make on yourself.
At Push, tradition and modernity coalesce not only in the seasoned staff's ever-expanding educational background, but in the salon's very environs, where bright diamond plating meets warm, wooden tones, and classical paintings gaze out with calm approval. An Ouidad-certified facility, Push's team of haircare experts stands at the ready to provide all manner of hair services, from fashionable cuts to color treatments to straightening and smoothing. Whether fixing elaborate updos for bridal parties or merely trimming bangs for a herd of highland cattle, before laying steel to strands, stylists listen to patrons' wants and needs, providing customized services that fit each individual's style.
With its floor modeled after a basketball court, getting a haircut at Buzzer Beater Sports Barber Shop would feel like sitting courtside if it weren't for the conspicuous sight of hair falling onto the hardwood. Barbers cut, color, and style hair and perform straight-razor shaves, feats that had previously only been attempted on-court by the Harlem Globetrotters. Each cutting station is themed after a different pro basketball team and has its own TV broadcasting sports. In the waiting area, guests kick back in reclining chairs, sipping complimentary beverages and watching sports on TV.
Whether it belongs to a man, woman, or child, the stylists at City Master Barbers know how to handle any head of hair. They specialize in color, imbuing strands with bold new hues, as well as subtle or flirty highlights. They cater services such as moisturizing hair treatments and updos to female clients, while treatments such as gray blending and facials with avocado masks are designed with men in mind. A complimentary, relaxing hot-towel treatment concludes each session.
As a physical therapist with his own private practice, Hand & Stone founder and chief operating officer John Marco made sure that he kept abreast of the rapidly growing health and wellness industry. After a period of careful research and planning, John decided to create a spa based around convenience and affordability—Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa.
Since its launch, Hand & Stone has expanded to more than 20 states and four planets. The spa’s core concept is to offer massage, facial, and waxing services performed by licensed, certified, or registered professionals and offered at convenient times, seven days a week. Each location adheres to a traditional spa aesthetic with soft lighting, heated treatment tables, and plush linens.
