At first glance, Niemann Perry Salon looks edgy, its carpet daubed with a graffiti-like black-and-white print and its staffers roaming about styled in neon hair dye and tattoos. But this edgy style simply adds personality and flair to the professional med-spa and salon linked by a partnership to board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. David Martin. Guided by the doctor, the staff performs an extensive list of aesthetic services, including facial peels, laser hair removal, Botox, and other injections. Not to be outdone, hair stylists stock their stations with Keune, L'anza, and Kevin Murphy products, and nail artists slick talons with OPI lacquers and trim cuticles using only their boot spurs.
Beth Aleksa, a busy mother of four, first turned to permanent makeup to cut down on the time she spent getting ready in the morning, and later decided to lend her Technicolor savvy to others via A Fine Line Permanent Cosmetics. Beth and fellow permanent-makeup artist Bill Moreland use an intradermal pigmentation process to tuck natural pigments of color into the dermis, making sparse eyebrows appear fuller and more defined without pencil or spray paint, and subtly accenting eyes. They further enhance faces with permanent makeup for lips, can cover stretch marks, and also offers long-lasting eyelash extensions in a range of lengths.
The cosmetology licenses and certifications pile up at The Studio at Rockwall Spa and Makeup Artistry, where owner Kim Morrow Johnson and her experienced staff beautify visitors during a slew of cosmetic services. Johnson's AIIC-certified master technician and instructor status shows as she applies permanent makeup and eyelash extensions. She and her team of licensed aestheticians augment their work—which includes makeup, waxing, airbrush tanning, and facial treatments—with products from Dermalogica and MUD.
When April McDaniel came up with the name April Rain Day Spa, she didn't just intend it to be a playful nod to her own. The spa's moniker conjures feelings of relaxation and warmth, which are only enhanced by its amber lighting and complimentary robes and drinks. Most importantly, this name also reflects the spa's commitment to environmentally conscious skincare products. These nourishing formulas play a key role in signature facials, which include a vitamin C?infused facial that carries antioxidants and other nutrients and the Ultimate Hydration facial that uses algae and vitamins to put oxygen and moisture back into the skin. Though facials may be some of the most popular treatments at April Rain Day Spa, smoothing chemical peels, waxing, and permanent-makeup services are also available.
The setting is a spunky little Hair Junkie salon, where glittery guitars decorate the walls and shiny bottles of hair- and skincare products pack the shelves of rustic wooden bookcases. The leading lady of our story is Dakota Deweese—a skilled skincare specialist with golden hair. She bustles about the brightly lit salon, smoothing wrinkles, banishing blemishes, and rejuvenating skin through comprehensive facial treatments. On some days, she adds volume and glamour to lashes with professional extensions. Dakota is joined by a supporting cast of skilled stylists who snip up new looks, tanning specialists who bronze skin with UV-free spray, and a fairy disguised as a client who graciously grants her three wishes after receiving a particularly relaxing exfoliation treatment.
Though other spas may put more emphasis on massages or tanning, Glamour Nails & Spa makes fingernails and toenails the stars of the show. Inside the warmly lit space, the staff of nail technicians pamper hands and feet with a slate of manicures and pedicures that attend to cuticles and skin. They shape nail beds, moisturize skin with fruit-filled scrubs, and slough away callouses to reveal the smooth skin beneath.
Patrons can hold up their newly colored nails next to glowing skin thanks to an array of facials and permanent cosmetics. They can also host pampering parties inside the space complete with food, drinks, and manicures.
