Aquarium maintenance might seem like a strange background for an expert in neuromuscular therapy and deep-tissue massage, but that's exactly how massage therapist Lynne Luckow got her start. She decided to change careers after reading about the health benefits of massage and went on to study anatomy, physiology, and medical massage at Aesthetics University. She opened Healing Hands Therapy Center in 1993 and continued her training with renowned professionals in the field of alternative medicine. Eventually, she grew her practice to the point where she was working 12 hours a day, six days a week, roughly the amount of time it takes to give a full-body massage to a really big whale. Luckow knew it was time to expand: the center is now home to eight highly trained massage therapists, who earned it nominations in CityVoter's Best Massage category in 2011.
In addition to performing massages, Luckow promotes physical and emotional healing with Ayurvedic counseling and meditation. She has further rounded out her team with licensed acupuncturist Brenda Sherman, who holds a Master of Science in acupuncture and oriental medicine.
Although they often relieve discomfort or address medical concerns, massages are most famous for something else: the ability to turn stressed minds into vast expanses of unworried serenity. Comfort massage therapist Peter Alan's main goal, and he'll go to great lengths to accomplish it. One of his secret weapons comes from nature itself; in addition to delivering massages, he maintains a serene garden getaway, where many of his treatment sessions unfold. Surrounded by the comforting sounds of Mother Nature, clients can receive Swedish, deep-tissue, and hot stone massage kneads or bodywork techniques such as acupressure and reflexology. Peter also schedules massages at his studio or in clients' homes; this spirit of personalization also extends to the treatments themselves, which he customizes to address concerns specific to each client's well-being.
Angeline’s Aesthetics resides within Cotati-Rohnert Park Physical Therapy, occupying a serene nook that mimics a standalone spa. Here, aesthetician Angeline Warnock leverages the curative properties of botanical ingredients to revitalize skin. Her suite of paraben-free Tu’eL skincare products addresses the full spectrum of skin types—from oily and acne prone to parched and mounded with sand. To further enhance beauty, Angeline upgrades facials with eye treatments and performs waxes.
After studying Lomi Lomi on Maui with Kahuna Jena, Kimmie Kingsley returned to the mainland to develop her signature style: a mix of Lomi Lomi with traditional Swedish techniques. Kimmie plies clients with fluid and rhythmic motion to improve mind, body, and spirit, using the effleurage and petrissage from Swedish massage to erase adhesions and knots and then going over that with the deep penetrating strokes of Lomi Lomi, soothing and relaxing tense muscle tissue.
The spacious salon is decked out in a vintage 1920's vintage theme, complete with tan walls and 11 vintage styling stations, which goes a long way towards invoking a warm and unique atmosphere. Amid these accents, owner Jessica Cruz and her crew of highly trained stylists renovate tresses with high-end Pureology and Redken brand products. Clients may also solicit the salon for a deep-conditioning treatment or elegant new color highlights.
