What?s your favorite part about your job?
I enjoy helping people reach their goals and improve their lives.
When and how did you first develop a passion for your work?
When I was discharged from the Army I struggled. I was fortunate to have people be there to help me along the way. As well, I went to college for my Masters in counseling to further myself and allow me to help others that are struggling. I also discovered along the way that there are holistic options that will benefit people in their struggles to become healthy and active. I have read numerous studies on hyperbaric therapy and it is life changing.
What steps do you take to make your clients feel at ease?
I take the time to get to know them as a person and put them at ease, no judgments. I look at the world from their eyes and become their partner in looking at other solutions.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
I am excited to launch my new expansion and new image with your company.
A vibrant peacock mural welcomes diners into Taste of India where, surrounded by Indian decor, they can sate appetites for spices with a menu of curry-laden dishes. Masala, saffron, and vindaloo sauces add pungency to the restaurant’s array of specialty plates, which feature shrimp, goat meat, and homemade cheese.
Work It, Girl! Dance Fitness’s owner, Sandy, wasn’t initially convinced that pole dancing could translate to an effective exercise routine. She first encountered the sensual workout while watching a morning health show, and she immediately recognized some of the spins and moves from her days as a gymnast. So, with intrigue and reservations equally in tow, she journeyed to the nearest pole-fitness studio—one located 100 miles away—to see what all the fuss was about. After her first class, she was fully on board. She found everything about pole dancing to be infectious, from the sense of empowerment she experienced while twirling around the pole to the intense strength and cardio exercises that left her breathless after each workout.
Today, Sandy’s own pole-fitness studio introduces women of all ages and abilities to the liberating workout that got her hooked on fitness. Sandy’s team of certified instructors helps students spin and twirl through classes that incorporate sexy pole and chair techniques that are sure to spice up boring bus commutes. They also groove to Latin-inspired tunes during Zumba Toning classes and build cardio endurance during interval-based Turbo Kick kickboxing classes.

At Oak Hills Golf Center, golfers traverse an 18-hole golf course that loops around Hough Park Lake and hone their skills on the driving range. The City of Jefferson keeps the course open year-round, so long as frost doesn’t accumulate on the greens and vacationing nudists don’t show up in the sand traps unannounced. At the end of rounds or practice sessions, players can refuel with hot dogs, brats, and hamburgers at the course concession stand.
Course at a Glance: * 18-hole, par 71 course * Total length of 5,908 yards from the back tees * Course rating of 68.5 from the back tees * Course slope of 119 from the back tees * Four sets of tees per hole
After graduating from Life University in 1999, Doctor of Chiropractic Brent Berlener began studying advanced chiropractic techniques, such as the Pettibon system. The system uses whole-body vibration and spinal decompression to help the spine look and function like the scary skeleton it is. Nowadays, Dr. Berlener pairs the technique with traditional services, such as adjustments and massage therapy, at Discover Wellness & Rehabilitation.
