In lieu of studios and backdrops, Jennifer Nicole conducts her sessions on location, where the atmosphere is more fun and real. This is in an effort to give each of her clients a magical memory, and her photography aims to elicit the emotions as if they were living that moment for the first time. Her shoots leave ample room for wardrobe changes and often incorporate props, such as baskets and blankets for newborns. Once her appointments wrap, Jennifer preserves her clients’ favorite photos with prints, online viewing galleries, and DVDs with high-resolution images to help turn those moments into lasting memories.
Picasso's Corner's imaginative artists offer step-by-step instruction to guide students of all skill levels as they craft 16"x20" paintings. Classes, running either two hours Tuesday-Wednesday or three hours Thursday-Saturday, are scheduled at 7 p.m. and include all necessary materials such as acrylic paint, brushes, high-powered paintball guns, easels, aprons, and canvases. Patrons may use provided bottle openers and cups during class to enjoy self-supplied beer, wine, and snacks. The studio's three-hour open-studio sessions offer a more independent painting session devoid of step-by-step instruction and performance-enhancing hugs.
Informed by an ever-growing body of developmental research, classes at The Music Class introduce tots to tunes and concepts that boost creativity and listening skills. In Music Pups (a $72 value) courses, children under 4 years of age gleefully sing, dance, and bang away on rudimentary instruments such as the drums or theremin. Four and 5-year-olds learn concepts of tone and rhythm in the Music Cats course (a $77 value), which lets kids experiment with keyboards before defending their dissertations on the narrative redundancies of "Old MacDonald Had a Farm." Each 45-minute course meets four times in one month-long segment, and includes CDs for parents to play at home to follow up on in-class tutelage. This Groupon may also be used toward The Music Class' ten-week music courses.
Mike Moreland's portfolio bursts apart at the seams with the work of more than 15 years in architecture, fashion, and advertising photography. The award-winning photographer's three-hour workshops, typically lead by two–four expert shutterbugs, teach neophytes and hobbyists the tricks and tools to snap professional-grade shots. After 45 minutes of instruction, students spend just over two hours honing their burgeoning skills, capturing images on their own DSLRs or with a chisel and stone tablet. Guests walk out of the sessions knowing how to manipulate light sensors, how to adjust shutter speeds with a special emphasis on nature photography, and the basics of studio lighting, wedding portraiture, and shooting in urban settings.
