Safeway Transit entertains riders with a fleet of seven custom buses, each coated in a unique color of paint and stocked with upgrades including club lights, powerful speaker systems, and keg holders. Their fleet features both smoke-friendly and smoke-free vehicles, some with LED poles presumably for firefighters that detect unusual billows. The bubblegum-colored Pink Bunny bus features these illuminated support beams in its aisles, as does the Black Pearl—a sleek city bus with black lights, black paint, privacy windows, and room for 40 passengers. In addition to the mobile nightclubs, Safeway Transit also situates passengers in its neon green Night Rider, which features a checkered floor plucked from a retro diner and wood paneling along the ceiling and the base of its seats.

A five-minute drive from downtown, Uptown’s public spaces entice visitors with bike paths, sculpture gardens, and locals blasting impressions of Björk's pet swan over a megaphone. Nearby, rented canoes crisscross Lake Calhoun’s calm waters, and restaurants serve eclectic cuisines from fresh seafood to Japanese cuisine on outdoor patios. Visitors to Uptown can feast on American fare at restaurants such as Primebar, which serves up sandwiches, steak, and seafood with largely local brews; The Herkimer Pub & Brewery in Lyn-Lake, known for its small batches of craft beer; and the Uptown Cafeteria, offering trendy contemporary meals. Evenings out at Bar Louie tempt guests with martinis, margaritas, and other cocktails accompanied by pub food, and Chino Latino delights palettes with dishes small and large, spicy and explosive. Wayward mermaids dining at Stella's Fish Cafe & Prestige Oyster Bar can enjoy a feast fit for the sea with raw, grilled, and baked items, or step on shore and visit moto-i in Lyn-Lake to sample the food you’d find on Japanese streets.
Recipient of the American Public Transit Association's Gold Award for Safety in 2011, SouthWest Transit whisks passengers to their destinations Monday–Friday. Aboard one of the fleet's 60 black and copper buses, riders can relax peacefully while cutting down on greenhouse-gas emissions and loud honks at rude construction cones. Three Park and Ride lots—including lots in Chaska, Chanhassen, and Eden Prairie—allow commuters to drop cars off securely and ride the rest of the way. A handy online Trip Planner helps with finding the ideal itinerary for traveling to work, school, or the library's hidden underground movie theater, though all available routes can be found on SouthWest Transit's schedule.
Drink and Drive Intelligently assembles a team of professional designated drivers who keep more than 250 intoxicated drivers off the streets each week. Registered customers can call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and a duo of well-mannered chauffeurs will arrive within 30 minutes to ferry both customer and car home. While one driver commandeers the customer's vehicle and follows GPS-aided directions, the other follows closely. Once the customer's car is parked, locked, and read a bedtime story from the Kelley Blue Book, the keys are returned to their owner before the drivers head back to base.
