At each Lover's Lane location, a team of romance specialists busies itself with increasing the chemistry between partners. The process requires a few key ingredients—a non-intimidating atmosphere, a broad knowledge of the shop's erotic wares, and most importantly, a playful and creative approach to intimacy. This fun approach is what keeps the store stocked with such a wide variety of items, from enticing lingerie sets available in petite and full-figure sizes to Kama Sutra massage oils.
In order to ensure customers feel completely comfortable, the lingerie and costumes are separated from the adult toys. The apparel side of the store turns into a holiday hotspot filled with romantic seasonal styles. The other side features such items as luxury massagers from Lelo and California Exotic Novelties and Lover's Kits, which package several products into a single purchase. The Perfect Seduction kit, for example, includes a silk blindfold, rose petals, and a singing gondolier.

No stone goes unturned at Infinity Jewelry, where quality stems from staffers' meticulous attention to detail and more than 25 years of experience. Twinkling glass cases hold everything from engagement rings to watches and impress savvy shoppers with nametags such as Elle, Rebecca, and Movado. A manufacturing department tinkers with precious metals to ensure custom, well-crafted designs, and an onsite jeweler can offer advice on a setting or a calculated insurance appraisal for patrons who think they've accidently inherited the crown jewels. Patrons can also utilize the shop's repair services to fix an antique trinket, or take advantage of Infinity's purchasing service to get money in exchange for their gold, fine watches, or best auctioneer impression.
In 1977, David Schwartz had to get his tennis racquet re-strung. Disappointed to find that the service would take three days at the local sporting goods shop, David did what anyone would do: he opened his own place to stock high-quality tennis gear and offer same-day racquet re-stringing.
That original 750-square-foot shop has since turned into the 19,000-square-foot sporting goods emporium that is The Tennis & Golf Company. Over the years, David has expanded his store's inventory beyond just tennis goods?these days it includes golf gear, running shoes, and general fitness apparel from the industry's top brands. The store also features demo areas, where customers can try out new racquets and clubs to make sure they feel comfortable and are not made of plutonium.
Scouring the country for retro fashions, Lost and Found owner Tommy Dorr and his staff stuff all three floors of the shop with threads from the 1900s through the ‘80s, earning a nod in 2011 as Best Vintage Clothing in Oakland County by the Metro Times. Hunt and forage amid an ever-shifting forest of dresses, vintage tees, Members Only jackets, and lacrosse gear. Swing pastward to the ‘70s with a Violet Venus purple column dress with a choker neck ($28), or turn back frock clocks to a more wholesome time of sock hops and bomb shelters with a ‘50s vintage red sheath dress ($38). As customers try on a pair of apricot macramé melon wedges or pistol-frame sunglasses, their elbows might rub against one of the celebrities ensnared by Lost and Found’s fabricky siren song, such as Mick and Paul from The Clash. Tommy and his threadsperts chime in with friendly style advice whenever the selection threatens to overwhelm guests or ironically devour them with a swarm of hungry retro T-shirts.
Metals In Time’s bold stone facade surrounded by tall windows and three-story columns reflects the classic elegance in their selection of high-end jewelry and timepieces. Inside, dozens of lights skirt a crystal chandelier that illuminates long cases below. The cases house diamonds of all cuts and clarities, engagement rings from Verragio and Scott Kay, and watches from Burberry and Gucci. Jewelers staff the on-site repair and service center to tinker with broken timepieces and appraise the value of old decoder rings salvaged from cereal boxes.
