Propulsion Pilates' instructors rely on the familiar Pilates contraptions that fill most studios, but they alter the time-tested workout regimen by incorporating it into a more modern style of circuit training. They combine sequences on the Reformer, Tower, and Wunda Chair with occasional cardio exercises and kettlebell work, creating challenging sessions that manage to refine technique while bolstering strength and flexibility. To keep classes teetering on the cuttingest of edges, the instructors attend at least two Pilates workshops every year to update their mental cache of fitness tricks, but they always leave a little disappointed that a flying Reformer machine appears to be at least another six months off.
At each of Crossroads Fitness' four locations throughout the Wastach Front, members of all ages build strong, healthy bodies through a regimen of group classes, personal training, and extensive wellness evaluations and health assessments. Registered dietitians and fitness experts help clients manage their fitness goals, while a schedule of BodyPump, Zumba, yoga, and resistance training burn away unwanted fat while building lean muscle. After leveling up their endurance and speed with sports-performance training or flexing their legs in a cycling class, members relax and rehabilitate muscles with on-site massage therapy.
The instructors at Higher Ground Hot Yoga help students achieve a soothing state of calmness through heated yoga sessions. They guide guests through 26 poses in a studio heated to improve muscle elasticity, which reduces the threat of injury. The heat also encourages detoxification and elevates heart rates. Instructors stay positive and supportive throughout their classes, which help build strength and flexibility and elongate ligaments, joints, and facial hair. The staff also uses these poses to teach students the valuable skill of controlling their breath.
The Pilates Body sets limbs to lengthening with multiple classes per week that test core strength and concentration in a open and modern space. Sample sessions of mat Pilates, designed to increase strength, flexibility, and tone, or take stretches to a heady new echelon with the thermostat cranked during hot Pilates. The swinging Zumba classes provide fat cells with Latin background tunes as they are danced into oblivion, and the men's conditioning class allows men and their hairy-chested mats to reap the benefits of Pilates in a testosterone-rich environment. The staff's six highly trained instructors provide the guidance needed to renovate soul digs from a tackily wallpapered waiting room to a suavely painted sanctuary. Both morning and evening classes are available, providing multiple opportunities to get the energized feeling only exercise and jet-powered clogs can provide. All mats and other equipment are provided, but reservations are required as class size is limited to 12–15 people.

Tiffany Crosswhite’s journey toward becoming a Pilates instructor began, oddly enough, at the Ice Capades, where the lights, music, and graceful glides inspired her to pursue a career as a professional ice skater. As this career progressed, she eventually became a coach for young skaters, constantly hunting for a form of exercise that would help them grow stronger without harming their developing bodies. Thanks to a gift certificate given to her by her mother, Tiffany discovered Pilates and quickly fell in love with the low-impact, powerful-results exercise. In fact, she was so head over heels that she opened her own studio.
Beneath a fun, globular chandelier, Tiffany infuses her Pilates routines with conditioning exercises drawn from her years of figure-skating training. She, along with her team of passionate instructors, help students tighten core muscles using mat exercises and the fleet of Pilates machines that line the walls, which include Reformers, Wunda Chairs, and bionic replicas of Joseph Pilates himself.
