There were a lot of haircuts between the start of Deloris Whittingham's career and the opening of Salon Soliel. After graduating from cosmetology school, Ms. Whittingham began styling heads on the upper east side of Manhattan, and ultimately landed a gig at a well-known hair salon in the heart of the city. Ms. Whittingham then opened several of her own salons in the New York area, and eventually expanded into Florida, opening even more beauty havens, including Salon Soliel. The business' services include waxing, nailcare, and, of course, hair services for men and women.
Ever since the '80s, when hair mysteriously began growing on its own, Rodolfo Quesada has dutifully kept strands in line with his styling services. In the past 30 years, he has traversed the globe, sharpening his shears at training seminars in Europe and South and Central America. In the comfort of Exclusively Yours Hair & Nail Design, clients can seek his expertise for flattering layers, highlights, and restorative deep-conditioning treatments.
The technicians at Emerge Nail Spa don't just paint nails, they create nail art. They adorn digits with polka dots, contrasting glitter, or beach scenes, as well as sculptural, three-dimensional flowers or jewels. But that doesn't mean they skimp on pampering. They have also perfected relaxing manicures and pedicures that include soaking baths, soothing massages, and hydrating masks.
Barber tools are not toys. But even as a child, Dennis Marquez couldn’t resist playing with his father's set of barber tools in the attic, as he told Wellington the Magazine in 2008. This early admiration led Dennis to train at many prestigious hair schools including Vidal Sassoon in London. More than 35 years ago, Dennis and his wife, Kristina, opened the first Pizzazz Hair Design. The venture succeeded: their business has grown to include five separate salons, many of which have gained praise from NBC 5. Each salon’s stylists, armed with Redken and GKhair products, consult with men, women, teens, and children before revamping their manes with cuts, foil highlights, and hair-smoothing treatments. At the adjoining spas in three of the five salons, technicians paint nails with OPI polishes and cleanse skin with botanical-based Pevonia products.
To stay up to date on current hair trends, each salon's beauticians attend continuing-education courses and dissolve fashion magazines older than three months in jars of barbicide. The Pizzazz team also gives back to the community by donating a portion of salon proceeds to the Adopt-A-Family organization.
The owners of Sanda Gané European Day Spa, Sanda Gané and Maxine Turner, joined forces with medical director Dr. Itzhak Nir to expand their menu of facial, massage, and waxing services to include laser treatments and beauty injections. While visitors yield their bodies to head-to-toe makeovers, they abandon their stresses in the spa’s tranquil setting free of the outside world’s cell-phone ringtones, honking horns, and hyenas overcome by hysterical laughter. In a flurry of scissor snips and haircare products, stylists cut and color outmoded hairdos, and manicurists groom and polish natural backscratchers. The spa’s medical staff wields lasers that blast away body hair and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and spider veins.
