An avid bike-racer since age 12, Rick Fidanzato became skipper of ABC Bicycles at the young age of 23. In the 10 years since, Rick has opened another store and once helped a patron craft an ultra-high bike that put the rider’s seat well above the rooftops of passing cars. During the rare free moment, Rick tinkers with his '60 Cadillac and keeps plenty of James Brown, Stevie Wonder, and Rolling Stones mixed into his stores' eclectic playlist.
In sports, home-field advantage gives your team the upper hand. In fishing, it's actually not much different. Born and raised in St. Pete, Pocket Change's Captain Anthony knows exactly where to fish and all the ideal conditions for success on the water. During his group outings?which include tackle, bait, and lures for everyone?he leads the way as anglers haul in snook, redfish, trout, and other fish. They do so from the company's 16-foot custom skiff or its 18-foot bayboat, scouring local grass flats and reefs for their scaly targets. Afterward, Pocket Change also provides filet packaging so anglers can take their catch home to eat or to show their parents how much they continue to achieve in life.
University Bicycle Center stocks bicycles for every skill level, ranging from children's and adults' comfort bikes to performance road bikes. Pair Cannondale, Scott, or Electra brand cycles with Bell bike helmets and Canari jerseys. In addition to accessories such as lights, racks, pumps, and computers, cyclists can fix up their rides with individual parts, including tires and brakes.
Thanks to Island Action Sports, you don't need to hop in a car to go rent a kayak, bike, or paddleboard. That's because the business will bring your rental to you, whether you're looking for equipment to use on the water, beach, or land. And when you're finished skimboarding down the shoreline of Treasure Island Beach or longboarding across St. Pete Beach, Island Action Sports will come pick up your rental as well.
Imagine for a moment diving into the ocean, resurfacing with not only memories of the sub-aquatic environment, but a full reel of photographs, too. Underwater photography is just one of the many courses offered at Scuba Quest, a family-owned company that has shown students how to safely explore the seas for more than 25 years.
Scuba Quest began as a single shop, but has since spread to six locations across the state of Florida. At each, the company’s NAUI-certified instructors lead refresher courses, beginner classes, and comprehensive certification programs. Rather than climbing into fish tanks while pet-store clerks are on break, Scuba Quest's students can put their new skills to the test in unfamiliar waters during the company’s exotic diving excursions around the globe.
