The Milk Pail Local Market & Drive Thru started with a simple idea: What if the convenience of the drive-thru wasn't reserved for fast food spots? From there, a new type of grocery store sprouted. It's stocked with the same staples, such as artisanal breads, milk, and ice cream. However, visitors who order online can pick up their basics in a drive-thru, without the hassle of climbing out of their car through the sunroof. For those who don't mind a break from the driver's seat, though, the grocery store's team also welcomes walk-ins to a brick-and-mortar store, with a bigger selection than the drive-thru. The team believes customers should get to pick out their own fresh produce, for instance, and browse floral bouquets for the one that most strikes their fancy. The physical store boasts ready-to-eat casseroles and dips, too, along with an array of beers and wines.

A The Detox Studio's intimate setting, the wellness expert aims to purge bodies of the debris associated with living in an industrialized society. Such debris?chemicals, inorganic compounds, and elevator music?hides in muscle tissue and skin pores, so the therapist uses organic and natural spa treatments to draw it out. Many of the studio's services focus on massage. During these 40- to 90-minute treatments, the therapist armed with organic lotions kneads muscles until they feel like putty, a process that releases stored toxins and improves circulation. Other services use herbs to detoxify. The herbal detox wrap, for example, relies on herbs to drain lymphatic channels. Several services focus more on rejuvenation, including the Ayurvedic shirodhara treatment, during which the therapist slowly pours of stream of warm oil over the client's forehead as a soothing finish to a 30-minute head, shoulder, and neck massage.

Fat Straws isn't making fun of its drinking implements—its straws have to be wide in order to suck out the large tapioca pearls resting at the bottom of the café's bubble teas. The traditional beverage made from Chinese black tea, creamer, and sugar teems with firm, never sticky tapioca balls that infuse each sip with a chewy surprise. For those who prefer a smooth texture, the café creates a slew of artisan teas available hot or iced, along with smoothies, slushes, and shakes, such as the Green Tea milkshake's blend of Japanese green tea and green-tea ice cream.
