The all-volunteer team at Sacramento Inner City Outings organizes fun and educational wilderness adventures for urban youth and adults who might not ordinarily have the opportunity to experience the natural world. Through these outdoor trips – which might include hikes, camping trips, backpacking, or snowshoeing – the organization promotes appreciation and protection of the environment, as well as personal growth and leadership skills among inner city youth. A part of the Sierra Club’s 50-city Inner City Outings network, the Sacramento chapter has organized nearly 30 outdoor trips in the last two years, and looks forward to upcoming excursions to Echo Summit and the Cosumnes River Preserve.

Lion Solutions' professional car caretakers travel to auto owners' homes and offices to shine and freshen vehicles inside and out. During the two-hour Superior detail service, technicians hand wash and towel dry exteriors before dressing tires and rims in enamel-protecting tuxedoes. Streak-free cleaning solutions remove smudges from glass surfaces, and the showroom finish imbues doors and dashboards with brand-new appeal. Applied manually, carnauba wax protects paint, shielding it from invading dirt clouds and locust armies. Vacuums inhale unwanted particles from fabrics and vents, and washcloths scour grime from interior surfaces. A fragrance package of choice upgrades each vehicle's interior atmosphere. In lieu of the Superior detail package, drivers may opt for the four-hour Lion luxury detail, which includes the aforementioned services on top of shampooing, extracting, and spot-treating stains and slushy spills on carpeting and floor mats.
Conductor Michael Morgan and the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra's seasoned tunesmiths finish their 2010–2011 season with a flourish, casting an eclectic mix of classical and pops programs sprinkled with performances by renowned guest artists. On February 19, internationally acclaimed concert pianist Sara Davis Buechner tickles the ivories during "Basically Beethoven", cascading through Mozart's Piano Concerto no. 24 before the orchestra's majestic take on Beethoven's Symphony no. 7. On April 9, "Hidden Meanings" explores issues of love and faith amid the tumultuous early twentieth century, with pieces by Edward Elgar and Dmitri Shostakovich, a secretive composer known for hiding unfinished works under the stairwells in M.C. Escher paintings. The season belts to a close on May 21 with "Homegrown Sacramento", as Tony-award-winning Broadway chanteuse Faith Prince summons Sondheim, Loesser, and other giants of the Great White Way with her strong vocal prowess.
Every evening at El Corazón is a different experience. Although the downtown venue is best known for its rock ‘n’ roll attitude, its calendar presents a genre-defying variety including comedy shows and punk, electroclash, postrock, and postman rock concerts. The majority of their shows are all ages, with a special bar area for the 21-and-up crowds.
"Ornate" and "sweeping" only begin to describe the Crest Theatre, whose rich history extends back to 1912, when it was opened as a vaudeville house. Within its gargantuan auditorium, plush seats perch in subtly curved rows while elaborate lights and a sea-blue ceiling wash the space in ethereal hues. Moviegoers settle into the elegant confines to take in both new and classic films, reading the subtitles in a whisper to stuffed animals that forgot their glasses. Out in the lobby, a richly patterned carpet and bronzed floral motif cover the sprawling space as visitors belly up to the bar and snack on high-quality goodies.
