Silke Schröder's canine haven hosts dog-training classes, grooming sessions, doggie daycare, and overnight guests in spacious luxury suites. Among Silke's many dog-whispering accomplishments, the German-born-and-raised dog trainer placed second at the 2001 German Northern States Dog Sporting Championship, qualified for the 2005 USDAA Agility World Championships, and has racked up years of professional experience training pups of all ages and breeds in basic obedience and agility using an upbeat and positive approach. Her diverse roster of classes ranges from basic puppy obedience to Canine Good Citizen courses, in which dogs learn to behave in public, around other dogs, and before Queen Elizabeth's corgi ambassadors.
Shaded by thick, moss-strewn trees, Pet Camp's outdoor play area provides plenty of room for carefree romps and organized activities with the pack for daycare visitors, and boarders can recover from games of Red Rover inside the 2,700-square-foot, climate-controlled kennel. Four-footed guests can stage a sweet-smelling reunion with their owners after a Hydrosuge bath, brush, or trim at the grooming center
The crew at Family Horse Ranch & Rescue have big hearts, especially where horses are concerned. They board horses for riders and owners, providing the steeds with shelter, food, attention, and medical care. They also donate three stalls and a pasture to horses in need of homes and work with volunteers to give them loving care. Every night, they take the horses out for trail rides in the woods and beaches around St. Augustine, with a portion of ride proceeds going to help rescue more horses. Expert instructors also lead lessons in English- and Western-style riding.
Making pizza requires a pretty standard order: dough, sauce, cheese, toppings, bake. But for The Infielder, the signature 16-inch pizza at The Infield Pizzeria & Sports Bar, cooks scramble up the process. After shaping a hunk of hand-tossed dough into a square, they add toppings and mozzarella cheese before baking the pie. Once the pizza is out of the oven, the culinary team adds sauce and sprinkles of pecorino romano cheese.
The rest of the menu fulfills more traditional pizzeria expectations, from honey barbecue chicken pies to meatball parmesan subs with half a pound of meat. An extensive beer and wine selection can compelment each feast, as do five 50-inch televisions broadcasting the latest games. For kids, pre- and post-meal entertainment includes an in-house arcade, made-to-order cotton candy, and a bounce house every Wednesday.
