She feels passionately about giving back to her community, and when she's not crafting crisp, personal images, she's volunteering with a number of local nonprofits.

As a child, Colleen Lawson would get lost in photography books and family photo albums, entranced by the colors, emotions, and stories that each picture tells. That was her first love, her second occurring later in life—babies and kids. Today she combines her loves, specializing in portraits of newborns and children in picturesque outdoor settings such as floral parks or foam-washed beaches. She also applies her skills to couples and family portraiture, as well as photo sessions for moms-to-be.

Registration for the Never Quit Never Beach Fest starts at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, on the Jacksonville Beach Pier, when complimentary pre-race sustenance is distributed. Just prior to the 8 a.m. 5K run, the U.S. Special Operations Command Parachute Team will perform a dazzling pre-race show, and the U.S. Navy quartet will perform the national anthem. Once the 5K begins, you'll be free to run or walk along the expansive beach at low tide as the sun ascends in the sky over the Atlantic. Water stations are available along the way to soothe parched participants, and a complimentary T-shirt and one drink ticket to the event's after party are included. Be sure to register by June 1.
