Boudoir and pinup photographs capture women in their most physically, and sometimes mentally, intimate moments. That’s not something Boudoir Juteux’s resident photographer Alyshia takes lightly. Only she, her female client, and a female hair and makeup artist are allowed in her studio during man-free sessions, where she coaches her subjects through a series of flattering, sultry poses. The same day, Alyshia looks over each shot with her clients and decides which she’ll retouch and preserve as digital images or prints.
A native of Jamaica, chef Jackie Hill has carried her home country's cuisine with her in her travels, creating her own brand of Caribbean cooking infused with culinary styles sourced from America and the Mediterranean. At Catering by Saffron's Cuisine of the Sun, she and her staff cater eclectic meals customized to most clients' requests as long as they don't involve building an entire house out of lamb chops, which wouldn't keep out any wolves. Appetizers include grilled shrimp skewers and empanadas filled with guava and spicy beef, while the signature jerk chicken entree is marinated in a special blend of spices and finished with house-made jerk sauce and onion vinaigrette.
Photo shoots are done on-location: the beach, a park, in the middle of the city, in the middle of nowhere...it's up to you. Your pictures will be completely unique; no cookie-cutter studios here! Three hours to go wherever you want with as many outfit changes you can handle.
The third annual St. Pete Oktoberfest, hosted by the Grand Central District Association, is St. Petersburg's largest beer festival, featuring craft-beer tastings and live music. Attendees can tipple samples from dozens of breweries, including Bell's Brewery, Dogfish Head, Sam Adams, Angry Orchard, and many others. A home brewer's challenge on Friday tests out homebrewed beers against old favorites, so home-beer enthusiasts can test out their recipes on actual people instead of the wild deer that show up in their backyards.
In addition to the extensive selection of microbrews and iconic beers, the two-day street festival also features live music, including performances from singer-songwriter John Kelly on Friday. Saturday's music merges rock, blues, jazz, and funk, with performances from Florida-native Damon Fowler, Bobby Lee Rodgers Trio, and Serotonic.
Professional nature photographers Les Voorhis and Jason Hahn strive to find the perfect balance between modern technology and the raw majesty of mother nature. Through multiple decades of experience, they each got pretty good at it, and decided to start Outdoor Photo Workshops to share their knowhow with aspiring shutterbugs.
Coral growing in brightly hued clusters. Translucent jellyfish floating past verdant, undulating seaweed. Schools of black bar soldierfish swimming in unison during their morning roll call. These are just a few of the myriad sights students at Gulfport Dive Center can see during their aquatic expeditions. Owned by a family of avid divers, the center gathers a community of fledgling sub-aquanauts to explore the waterways of the Sunshine State, whether the staff is training them during classroom sessions and open dives or equipping them with gear from Aqualung, Sherwood, and Akona.
