As a part of its continuing mission to promote the cultural and economic impacts of independent filmmaking, the not-for-profit St. Petersburg–Clearwater Film Society hosts the annual Sunscreen Film Festival. Each day of the four-day festival packs in more than 12 hours of short- and feature-film screenings, as well as workshops on the filmmaking process, such as "Tips for Creating a Talking Picture." Local documentarians and producers of comedic shorts, genre pieces, or feature-length films showcase their work for eager audiences and industry professionals. Myriad workshops cover aspects of screenwriting and acting as well as promotional arts such as how to land an agent or how to use social media as an advertising and networking tool. Many nights also feature concerts and after parties, allowing auteurs, musicians, and audience members to mingle.

The SPIFFS 39th Annual International Folk Fair brings all the world's cultures together for a three-day festival. On the general admission day (Saturday, November 2), the festival takes over the grounds at Vinoy Park with booths set up to honor the food, clothing, and culture of a variety of nations including Scotland, Taiwan, Ethiopia, and Ukraine. To keep visitors entertained—and to keep them from eating too much haggis—there will be folk dance groups performing and speakers giving talks on language, ethnic costumes, and more.

The German American Friendship Society of Pinellas brings together locals with a connection to Germany whether that connection is being of German descent or having served in Germany in the military. Whatever their background, all society members have one important thing in common: they love German culture. The society runs Saturday-night dances with rotating themes and a live band, and also participates in a number of folk festivals across the state. Members can also look forward to a number of events to celebrate German heritage including the always popular Oktoberfest. The festival showers participants in authentic German food and beer, live Oompah music and dancing, and a beer-mug-holding contest to see who can go the longest without snorkeling in their glass.

Established in November of 2011, Clearwater Beach Uncorked invites established chefs, vintners, and brewers from near and far to congregate for a weekend of sun, fun, and delicious dining. The festival is always ripe for culinary adventures: in its inaugural year, the beach featured such sights as a ?sand castle? made out of cake and rice-crispie-treat crumbs, a flash mob, and countless realizations that, despite popular opinion, vegetables aren?t yucky after all.

The Fanboy Expo, like stepping through the screen of a blockbuster superhero movie, brings comic and movie fans face-to-face with their favorite characters, actors, and artists. For two days, costumed attendees hob-nob with the Highlander, talk shop with Jerry "The King" Lawler , or chat with Lorenzo Lamas about his much publicized transition from starring in Renegade to opening his petting zoo, Lorenzo Lamas' Llamas. In addition to meeting celebrities from silver and small screen sci-fi and fantasy hits, comic book fans can also pick their favorite artist and creator's brain, snagging an autograph in the process. Should they find themselves in need of a new action figure or collectable t-shirt, fans can make their way to a number of merchandise and memorabilia dealer booths throughout the event space.
