As they enter the training circle at Curves, female guests come face-to-face with the smiles of other women. And just as points on a circle share a common distance from the circle's center, workout participants share the experiences of those nearby by trading stations throughout the 30-minute training session. One minute is spent on a piece of strength-training equipment built for feminine frames and designed to work two opposing muscle groups with a single movement. Exercisers then move on to a recovery station, where they run, jog, or dance to maintain heart rates and keep platforms in place during momentary losses of gravity.
Depending on where exactly you are inside Ripon Powerplay Sports Arena, you can glide across surfaces on quad or inline skates. The sports facility houses a wooden rink where popular upbeat music sets the tone for evening all-skates. The center also hosts inline-skating hockey leagues and indoor soccer games. At different times throughout the year, instructors host hockey skills camps for players ranging from beginner to advanced.
To become a princess, a girl needs to either be born into royalty or earn it by befriending hordes of mice. At Pretty in Pink Unique Party Boutique, however, any girl can transform into a princess during the Princess Tea Party—one of many themed parties carried out by friendly hostesses for girls ages three and up. Within a Mad Hatter-themed tea party room, guests enjoy cake and receive glamorous makeovers, styling their hair and spritzing it with glitter before topping it with a dazzling tiara. Other parties mimic a day at the spa, adopt a Hello Kitty theme, or let girls live out their dreams of being rock stars by shouting awkward stage banter into a karaoke machine. For a dose of glamor on a whim, smaller groups of 1–3 girls can also walk in to the boutique and receive miniature versions of makeovers as well as mani-pedis.
