When the American Heart Association was founded by six cardiologists in 1924, the only prescriptions given for heart disease were permanent bed rest and a diet of Valentines Day cards. Almost 90 years and 22.5 million volunteers later, the organization has accomplished much to combat the number one cause of death in the United States, not only by developing and disseminating effective treatment plans, but also by increasing awareness of preventative care and raising money for cardiovascular and stroke research. Outreach programs include CPR training, fundraising run/walks, and essential programs for healthcare professionals, educators, and caregiving everyday heroes alike.
At each of Fat Cats' five locations, strikes and spares light up the screens of automatic scoring systems. Bowling balls roll and skip down lanes in normal conditions, against retractable bumpers, or under the fluorescent glow of Thunder Alley, when the facility transforms into a music-filled fusion of a bowling alley and dance club. Each lane's crashing pins echo the softer clacking of putters at the glow-in-the-dark miniature golf course and the ringing lightshow of the arcade. Elsewhere, the scents of pizza and deep-fried bowling balls waft through the fun haven. Each Fat Cats location partners with different restaurants, including The Pizza Factory at its Salt Lake facility and Champzz Bar at the Westminster location.
At Dogs R Us, pups lap up first-class care from award-winning trainers and a knowledgeable, keen-eyed staff. Four-pawed guests come and go as they please between a climate-controlled indoor play area and a spacious outdoor yard, where they can bound through swimming pools or take a breather under the canopy.
The facility's full-service grooming shop keeps bow-wows looking fresh, and an onsite pet store stocks its shelves with all the necessary supplies for keeping pets happy and healthy. Tail-wagging worthy luxuries continue into the evening with overnight stays, which take place in bedrooms large enough for pooches to fit all their belongings, such as toys, beds, and life-size cardboard cutouts of their owners.

Stalwart bricks contain the pizza oven's feisty flames at Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta, where chefs knead and stretch fresh pizza dough by hand. More than 25 specialty pies—such as the eponymous Boardwalk with pesto, spinach, grilled chicken, roasted tomatoes, and bacon—join customizable and Neapolitan-style pizzas on a vast menu of classic and gluten-free slices. Subs embrace meatballs or chicken parmesan, and pastas such as spaghetti, elbow macaroni, and wheat penne mingle with toppings including cheese, artichoke hearts, and steak slices, all ushered into rumbling stomachs by sips of soda, beer, or specialty cocktails. Each cozy booth glows from the light of a private inset television, which flickers with live sports between professional, college, and Montessori school teams.
