Sprocketts Recycled Bicycles was born from a marriage between owner Michael Benson’s passions for cycling and preserving the environment. An avid mountain and freestyle cyclist since he was young, Michael sells and services bikes for men, women, and children with the assistance of recycled parts wherever possible. His selection of fully assembled bikes are 99% recycled, with only the cables, housing, grips, inner tubes, and V8 engines being new. Before sending bikes off with their new owners, Michael refurbishes them with tune-ups and thorough inspections to guarantee they run smoothly. He also accepts bike donations and trade-ins and donates 10% of the rides he takes in to nonprofit organizations.

Low-income youth learn how to change flat tires, reconnect rogue chains, and ride safely. At the end of each session, each student receives a bike of their own, each refurbished by pupils in the Earn-A-Bike program, as well as a bicycle lock and helmet. The Fall 2011 session of UGottaGetABike will run at four locations: New Holly Youth and Family Center, Rainier Vista Boys & Girls Club, South Shore K-8, and Van Asselt Elementary.
