Jonathan Acosta lifted his first weight in sixth grade. He was scrawny but loved sports, so he started lifting weights to bulk up. Eventually he gained the muscle mass to out-do athletes much bigger than him, and he’s been hooked on fitness ever since. After his own success, he was dismayed to learn that the typical gym experience didn’t seem to be doing much for his female friends. They wanted toned and lean muscles rather than bulk, but weren't seeing results. With their sentiments in mind, he opened Get Sexy San Antonio Bootcamps, striving to help ladies break through their fitness and weight-loss barriers.
In intense 45-minute sessions, Jonathan leads small groups through fat-burning exercises tailored to individual weight-loss goals. He throws himself into every session, motivating guests with boundless energy and enthusiastic moral support, shouting encouraging phrases such as, "You can't not do it!" To complement his intense exercise regimens, Jonathan also equips guests with nutritional plans.
Inspired by a love of fitness germinated during a successful tennis career, Innovative Fitness owner Phillip Zavala helms a team of motivated trainers. As gusts of fresh air swirl around them, the crew pushes fitness-seekers to peak performance during intense outdoor boot-camp sessions for all ages and ability levels. Using knowledge acquired while earning a degree in exercise science, Phillip helps clients transform their daily routines by assigning achievable fitness and nutrition goals. Aided by a massive battery of exercises, including 9 types of pushups and 10 different ab workouts, patrons can shed pounds without becoming stranded on a desert island where there is no silverware.
Because Results Personal Training is all about results, the friendly staff places a marked emphasis on education. They motivate patrons toward their fitness goals with a combination of nutritional counseling and personal training. Their teaching is customized to tend to any fitness goal, from losing fat and gaining muscle to rebuilding cores toppled by swallowed cherry bombs. The trainers zero in on even the slightest error in technique to foster safe movement, and will even pinpoint the proper weight clients should use for each workout.
Instead of requiring patrons to schedule appointments, Results welcomes guests to attend training at the start of every hour, on the hour, when the gym is open. Because they never know how many clients may arrive at each hour, some trainers may work with multiple clients at a time, but they always attentively oversee each patron as they perform their exercises or barbell-microphone renditions of “Eye of the Tiger.”
Judo is one of the grappling arts, which means that it has no strikes and uses no weapons, unlike karate or tae kwon do. Judo was developed in 1882 by Jigoro Kano as a comprehensive method of physical education, and it continues to provide exercise, entertainment, and self-defense knowledge today. For fun or competition, Universal Judo provides instruction and enjoyment to practitioners of all skill levels and ages. Call ahead to schedule your first visit.
Yoga in Motion helps students of all skill levels and body types to forge limber joints with heat-generating yoga classes. The studio’s Vinyasa-style yoga classes teach attendees to synchronize breath with movement during powerfully flowing pose transitions. Intro to Gentle Yoga Flow sessions begin with floor-based stretches, after which the studio's instructors lead attendees through a slow-paced series of foundational poses while emphasizing proper alignment and seamlessly flowing movement. Intermediate Flow classes challenge students with deeper stretches and a more vigorous sequence of asanas that, much like the legal definition of a vegetable, changes daily. Core Focus sessions strengthen the abdominal muscles and rebar frame that support the body's posture. Students can spread their yoga mats atop the practice space's timbered expanse of wood flooring and use the mirror-lined walls to practice their staring-contest skills.
After passing through Divine Yoga’s entrance, the hot Texas sun fades into lush, flowery gardens. Inside, a swaying porch swing greets guests before they reach the airy studio, where the earthy aroma of a natural oak floor kindles memories of swimming in a vat of red wine. Seated on a stage framed by lavender walls and wafting white curtains, KRI-certified instructors lead students through Kundalini yoga classes that aim to increase physical and spiritual energy through various postures, breathing techniques, and gong meditation. In Pre-Natal classes, moms-to-be can relax and stretch before their big arrivals, after which Post-Natal classes invite babies to join in and hone the focus, relaxation, and flexibility required to back-flip out of the crib.
