In 1975, Rosina Gallardo, a native of Zacatecas, Mexico, opened her first Amapola Rico Taco. Initially a drive-in, the eatery has since transformed into five restaurants with indoor seating and drive-thru windows. Rosina's dedication to popular and lesser-known Mexican flavors, however, remains unchanged. She fills burritos and soft-shell tacos with not only classic meats such as steak and pork, but also with goat, carne asada, and chicharr?n. Other Mexican staples such as cheese enchiladas and breakfast platters of huevos rancheros round out the menu.
All-American staples abound at Gus Jr. The chain of restaurants specializes in classic burgers, prepared quickly for meals on the go or numerous attempts at speed-eating records. The kitchen also branches into Mexican territory with taquitos, preps omelets for breakfast, and decorates piles of fries with chili and cheese.
When golf architect Cary Bickler designed Shandin Hills Golf Club in 1985, he wasn't about to make it easy for golfers to just waltz onto his greens. Instead, he surrounded almost every green with moats of sand to guard the precious bent and poa annua grass. When not building wooden planks to lay across the bunkers, players at Shandin Hills face several obstacles along the 18-hole course, including a large pond on 15 that splits the tee box and the bermuda-grass fairway.
Course at a Glance: * 18-hole, par 72 course * Total length of 6,517 yards from the back tees * Course rating of 70.6 from the back tees * Course slope of 127 from the back tees * Three sets of tees per hole * Scorecard

When the Fun Corner first opened its doors in 1956, it was actually located on the corner of the block. In 1980, it moved to its current location in the middle of the block. Locale aside, the Fun Corner still does today what it's been doing for the last fifty seven years: slinging costumes and novelty d?cor year-round. Today, it stocks approximately 5,000 different outfits?which range in size from newborn to plus-sized grownup?in addition to an arsenal of accessories, props, Halloween d?cor, hats, and wigs.
The staffers don't just sell new looks, however?they also help create them. On-staff makeup artists assist in making skin look appropriately ghoulish for a costume party or a formal undertaker's ball. They also teach customers techniques for easy replication at home.
