The staff at David's Window Washing has the enviable task of serving San Diego County, where year-round sunshine ensures there's no shortage of sliding glass doors and floor-to-ceiling windows in need of squeegeeing. Nonetheless, the team makes itself amenable to sudsy needs of all sorts, clearing dirt from interior and exterior windows, screens, and mirrors smudged by one too many attempts to visit Wonderland.
The big sky above The Ranch at Bandy Canyon has watched over nearly 150 years of homesteading history, stretching back to John D. Bandy, who staked his claim in 1870. Having undergone a multimillion-dollar restoration, the main lodge boasts two kitchens equipped with antique stoves, three patios warmed by open-air fireplaces, and rustic ceiling beams repurposed from the original San Diego pier. Its terraced landscape often hosts wedding ceremonies as well. Further along, the Ranch sprawls across 144 trail-laced acres, providing a well-maintained stomping ground for human, horse, and tumbleweed alike. Country cottages dot the land as well, granting visitors a spot to lay their hats, and a pool helps wash off the lather of a day on the trails.
At FunBelievable Play, British owners Lynne and Adriana introduce the San Diego area to “British-style” indoor play with playground equipment imported from the United Kingdom. Meeting all playground safety regulations, the 6,000-square-foot facility helps children use their imaginations while developing their physical and mental capabilities, and climbing structures and interactive games encourage social skills that come in handy when imaginary friends go off to college. A colorful three-level play structure hosts fun amenities such as tube slides, climbing walls, tiki-figure punching bags, and a ball shower, whereas the sports arena gives future athletes the chance to kick goals and shoot baskets. Wobbly walkers and toddlers enjoy more age-appropriate play in their own space, which scales down big-kid fun into an area littered with soft toys, a mini ball pit, and mini slides.
Parents can sip coffee in a lounge area and rest easy knowing their children are playing on equipment that's sanitized and inspected daily. The staffers are fully trained and have passed background checks, and many of them also are certified in first aid and CPR and boast an encyclopedic knowledge of cartoons.
At the age of 10, Bryan Meyer went on a trip to the Hawaiian Islands. It was on that trip that he first picked up a camera–and he hasn't put it down since. Now, more than four decades later, Bryan continues what has turned into a lifelong journey in photography. He and his Mind's Eye team shoot local conventions, sports events, and celebrations. They also snap more intimate sessions, including families with special needs.
Jaime Murray?s move west meant more sunshine, something she?d been dreaming up for the previous eight years as an advertising photographer in Philly. And though her prior work is many miles away, traces of that past job are still noticeable in her stylized photography. A lot of her images have highly contrasted and saturated colors that are accented by a soft focus, which creates a glowing, blurry aesthetic that evokes a dream-like state or the state after staring at sun for too long. She stamps her style on images during wedding, maternity, family portraits, engagement, and boudoir photo shoots, in addition to photos of restaurant dishes, musicians, and actors.
