In many cultures, performers begin training at a young age to ensure they become proficient as well as confident in their art. While the instructors at Scripps Performing Arts Academy believe in that approach, they put just as much focus on stoking the fires of creativity and ensuring that every student has some fun at the same time. Expert faculty members train students as young as three in myriad performance classes, which are held in professional-grade studios outfitted with floating hardwood floors for safe frolicking. Though the studio specializes in the classical discipline of ballet, it also offers programs in tap, jazz, modern, and musical theatre dance. Private lessons, meanwhile, incorporate instruments such as piano.
A calendar of productions allows students ways to showcase what they've learned, and include musicals and three major ballet shows each year. Performances take place in the studios as well as a dedicated black box theatre outfitted with professional stage lights and sound equipment.
ZFitness Classes & Apparel helms a range of fitness programs for women. Zumba and Zumba Sentao lessons lead participants in calorie-burning dance routines set to energetic Latin music, while the Bokwa workout challenges them to draw letters and numbers with their feet until they've transcribed Shakespeare's entire oeuvre. Alternatively, instructors conduct high-intensity interval training during R.I.P.P.E.D. classes.
Indoors or outdoors; the venue doesn't matter to the trainers at Fitness and Motion, as long as they get their charges moving. The four trainers—who come from diverse backgrounds including judo training and a degree in physical education from Mosul University in Iraq—motivate their clients to lead healthier lifestyles through group boot camps, Zumba classes, and personalized workout regimens for clients who wish to train one-on-one. They supplement the physical aspect of their coaching with nutritional guidance, which extends from healthy grocery lists to low-fat recipes to help their clients gain control of their diets. They also team up with companies to promote corporate wellness, as keeping employees healthy can raise productivity, lower healthcare costs, and promote the settling of interdepartmental differences by friendly matches of arm wrestling.
