For Arc Yoga and Massage founder Himanshu Kapoor, yoga runs in the family. As a second-generation yoga teacher originally from New Delhi, he studied yoga and ayurvedic massage in India. He has since dedicated more than two decades to teaching yoga and training new yoga teachers. At Arc Yoga and Massage, he leads Sivanada yoga classes, which blend sun salutations and breathing exercises with basic poses that are designed to stretch and energize the body. All skill levels are welcome. Along with yoga, he also specializes in ayurvedic massage therapy, including Indian herbal, prenatal, and deep-tissue massages.
Created for love of the sport by six stalwart enthusiasts, Dodgeball is Life runs seasonal leagues that pit five or more teams against each other, with members of all skill levels and both genders taking to the court. Players receive their team assignment from the league, joining court-ready crews typically composed of five men, two women, and one taxidermied mascot. The season pits these impromptu groups against each other in eight or more chuck fests, which lead directly into playoffs for the top-performing teams, which will get to replay grudge matches or continue to demonstrate their immunity to rubber. All matches take place on the squeaky courts of the Ocean Beach Recreational Center, beginning at 7 p.m. and usually concluding with a trip to a local bar to celebrate camaraderie over a brew.

During classes that emphasize functional fitness through interval training, athletes of all abilities lift kettlebells, swing heavy ropes, toss tires, and wrestle parked cars. Groundwork's outdoor workouts are constantly changing, which makes them more effective in burning fat and building muscle.
Although his full name was probably never thrown into poems or songs, Bellur Krishnamacharya Sundararaja Iyengar (B.K.S.) certainly left his mark. Iyengar began practicing yoga in India in 1935 before moving west during the 1950s, where he taught his version of the ancient discipline. Eventually, those teachings reached San Diego, where, in 1979, they surfaced in the form of Iyengar Yoga of San Diego.
Today, the facility employs a roster of certified instructors to lead groups through multiple levels of Iyengar yoga. Through the perfection of yoga postures, or asanas, and yogic breathing, the facility strives to coordinate the mind with every part of the body and, according to their philosophy, connect the individual spirit with the universal spirit.
