Tspoons' experienced chefs impart an earnest love of cooking through myriad hands-on cooking classes. Class sizes of up to 16 foster an intimate atmosphere for student chefs, and instructors willingly substitute ingredients to fit patrons' dietary restrictions. Learn to add zing to dishes without flambéing a book of Rodney Dangerfield jokes in Bring on the Heat: Cooking with Chiles, which experiments with peppery dishes such as thai bird chili, stuffed poblano chilis, and chocolate ancho-chili crème brûlée. Fluffy lemon-meringue pies, apple turnovers, and cream puffs tempt sweet teeth during the All-time Favorite Desserts tutorial, and the Essential Knife Skills and Cooking Basics harps on techniques for roasting, grilling, sautéing, and baking. As the courses come to a close, Tspoons gathers classmates to dig into the fruits of their hard work like kindergartners on macaroni-art day.
Dynasty Creative Arts Studio’s pendant-crafting class introduces participants to the art of jewelry making during 1.5-hour molding sessions. Small classes of eight students shape and press wax stamps into antique-style charms or pendants of fine silver clay, imprinted with letters, organic designs, and cheat codes to video games. A genuine ruby, sapphire, or emerald stone adds color and sparkle to each pendant as aspiring jewelers construct their customized pieces. After designs are complete, instructors fire the trinkets in a kiln, which transforms the clay into solid fine silver faster than holding it over a campfire or a sleeping dragon’s nostrils. Visitors can stay cozy while working on their projects with Dynasty’s in-studio fireplace, warm blankets, and steaming cups of espresso, latte, and herbal tea.

All Lagree Fitness classes are available in small packages, unlimited monthly packages, or limited monthly packages.

For more than a decade, physical therapist Amy Fischer helped clients recover from a range of orthopedic and sport injuries. These days, she blends her knowledge of the body with her passion for Pilates at her two Pure Pilates studios—one in Laguna Niguel and the other in Ladera Ranch—each of which host regular classes alongside specialized sessions for golfers, breast cancer survivors, and moms-to-be.
Surrounded by tranquil Asian-inspired décor, Amy and her team of instructors guide students of all levels through private and group Pilates classes, which aim to strengthen core muscles while improving flexibility and posture. After being divvied up into Level 1 or Level 2–3 sections, students learn a variety of exercises on a reformer machine built from adjustable ropes, pulleys, and springboards reclaimed from the days of vaudeville. Amy and her team also offer slower-paced courses for seniors as well as physical therapy sessions that speed healing with modified Pilates exercises paired with a personalized at-home exercise program.
Monkey bars glint in the sun, surrounded by a grassy expanse and a line of giddy guests waiting their turn in line. But these jungle-gym enthusiasts aren’t children—they’re the muscular boot campers in Training Camp’s expansive backyard. In the verdant field, certified trainers lead small, motivated groups through a Cross Training workout of the day, challenging them with sprints around the 1/8–mile track, ropes that hang from lofty trees, or lifting weights in the outdoor weight room. They switch up the routines daily to keep muscles interested, and they scale exercises to suit the fitness levels of all guests.
Training Camp’s instructors also move inside the 4,000-square-foot facility to lead hot-yoga classes. They modify moves within an exposed-brick and soft-floor studio, helping students deepen their stretch as hot air loosens muscles. When not in classes, students can unwind in the smoothie bar and lounge, sinking into the cozy leather couches and awaiting a turn in the private massage room.
