CrossFit To The Core is much more than a place to work out. Its trainers strive to build a supportive community and way of life for its health-minded members. Classes center around the importance of a dynamic workout—CrossFit's signature Workout of the Day (or WOD)—which features high-intensity interval training rooted in everyday movements. CrossFit To The Core also encourages students to continue their functional-fitness regimens outside of class, fully engaging with their surroundings as they run, swim, surf, bike, hike, and play epic games of zombie laser tag.
Dynasty Creative Arts Studio’s pendant-crafting class introduces participants to the art of jewelry making during 1.5-hour molding sessions. Small classes of eight students shape and press wax stamps into antique-style charms or pendants of fine silver clay, imprinted with letters, organic designs, and cheat codes to video games. A genuine ruby, sapphire, or emerald stone adds color and sparkle to each pendant as aspiring jewelers construct their customized pieces. After designs are complete, instructors fire the trinkets in a kiln, which transforms the clay into solid fine silver faster than holding it over a campfire or a sleeping dragon’s nostrils. Visitors can stay cozy while working on their projects with Dynasty’s in-studio fireplace, warm blankets, and steaming cups of espresso, latte, and herbal tea.
SeaFit Studio's encouraging exercise instructors lead groups through Lagree Fitness classes, a Pilates-based workout developed by trainer Sebastien Lagree that combines cardio movements with intense strength training. Inside the sunny studio, rows of padded Megaformer machines rest side by side, waiting patiently to burn calories and activate sweat glands as upbeat music blasts from speakers. All Lagree Fitness classes are available in small packages, unlimited monthly packages, or limited monthly packages.
Co-founders Tricia Ashley and Michelly Young can both remember the moment they fell in love with yoga. Tricia’s happened when she stepped into a Bikram yoga class and remerged 90 minutes later inspired to dedicate her life to the transformative practice. Michelly, a lifelong dancer and Zumba enthusiast, turned to yoga whenever her MBA program became stressful, and after graduating, she combined her degree and her passion by opening her own studio. Now they find fulfillment everyday helping students discover their best selves and achieve more than they thought was possible.
Together, Tricia and Michelly have created a community that speaks to all their interests with a full list of classes. Their signature hot yoga class is reminiscent of Bikram yoga, but is offered in 60-, 75-, or 90-minute sessions. SolFire also uses radiant heat panels to evenly distribute heat from floor to ceiling. As a result, the air distribution is easier to handle for those with allergies or sensitivities to pollen and dust. Alternatively, Heart and Sol yin yoga offers students a calm environment to stretch and unwind, while Zumba classes set to high-energy music inspire students to dance out their stress, cares, and any sand still stuck from last summer.
The certified instructors and professional staff at Club Pilates are passionate about bringing the full-body health and energy benefits of Pilates to everybody. At this bright and spacious studio, the focus is on Pilates Reformer classes, or classes teaching students the classic flexibility-boosting and strengthening moves of Pilates using Balanced Body Reformer equipment. Students can learn core-strengthening and alignment techniques in Pilates Reformer Level 1, or help boost their metabolisms in the Pilates Reformer Cardio Sculpt class, which features jumping and circuit training that works up a sweat more safely than pushing a wheelbarrow filled with hamburger meat through a wolf pack's territory.
Huw Lloyd Davies and Stu White started HDX Fit as a place where they can help others improve their own health and fitness. The center's training principles are built upon holistic health awareness, the fundamentals of nutrition, and metabolic conditioning. Alongside an excellent supporting staff, the team curates a curriculum of group training classes, personal-training sessions, nutrition consultations, and holistic life coaching.
HDX Fit also offers an online training program, a portal full of videos and written workouts for people who can’t make it to classes because their motorized unicycles are out of gas. The online program includes a weekly telephone chat with one of the gym’s trainers, who speaks to the philosophy of the center's inspirational founder.
