After an eye injury took boxing and martial-arts champion Eddie Croft out of the ring, he set himself a new goal: becoming the first person to train a boxing, kickboxing, and mixed-martial-arts champion. Having already trained a world kickboxing champion and five San Francisco Golden Gloves winners, he is well on his way.
Croft plies his trade at B Street Boxing, where his team of instructors teaches professionals and amateurs the arts of boxing, muay thai, kickboxing, Brazilian jiujitsu, and tae kwon do. In the red, white, and blue ring of B Street Boxing?s gym, students jab and spar, practice their skills on punching bags, or check their form in a mirrored wall. Conditioning and boot-camp sessions also keep students from all backgrounds fit while imparting dedication, discipline, and the desire to wear boxing gloves even in the shower.
Between partner-based exercises and the inspirational commands of a certified personal trainer, community is a constant motivator during EmpowerFIT’s boot-camp classes. The savvy team of fitness gurus switch up the maneuvers of each daily class to help keep students engaged, and high- and low-impact variations of each move scale to the abilities of each student. The result is a full-body workout that relies on functional movements such as jumping, running, pushing, pulling, and bopping it.
Peninsula Symphony, founded in 1949 with the goal of enriching communities with affordable musical productions, grew from a grassroots ensemble to a 90-plus-member orchestra of well-trained local musicians. Music Director Mitchell Sardou Klein leads the ensemble with a steady baton, a sharp ear, and the stamina to carry on through the inevitable triple encore.
The experienced staff at The Peninsula Ballet Theatre Conservatory of Dance nurture awkward appendages into free-flowing figures with their dance and fitness classes. Learn the sultry style of Latin-based beats during the beginning folklorico course with Norberto Martinez, or join flow yoga with Patti Stafford to elongate a rigid endoskeleton. The beginning ballet class enables novice dancers to pirouette to work and the grocery store, and the synergy Pilates class swiftly strengthens the core for upcoming sit-up competitions against the neighborhood snap bracelet.
Technicians at Bay Area Laser Therapy help specialize in herbal body wraps that help patients shed inches and conquer cellulite. Engineered by a biochemist from the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, each wrap is packed with an herbal formula designed to cleanse tissues and contour the body without dehydrating the skin. Natural ingredients help elevate circulation, lymph flow, and nerve relay races within the body, which may aid in the removal of trapped waste and help restore skin elasticity. Technicians further help guests lose weight with fat-melting Lipo-Light body contouring, which helps the body flush out excess fat or burn it for energy.
