Sometimes the little things make all the difference. Do you bake any supplementary services into your main services?
All of our customized services include options for aromatherapy, customized pressure and modality, signature inhalation and use of hot towels. There are also opportunities to add scalp, hand or foot treatments to any service. Our signature Therapeutic Mud Application makes all difference; the mud comes from France, warms throughout the service and gently soothes the area where it is applied.
Besides making clients happy, what do you like most about your job?
Being passionate about how impactful a spa experience can be on overall health and relaxation, I truly enjoy working with an individual to design the perfect "stay-cation" where that person can truly drift away from the pressures of their life and the world. When my guest is ready to leave The Spa, I enjoy seeing their transformation and fresh creativity.
How did you get started in the beauty industry? Did you have an "ah-ha" moment in life?
I was lucky and my parents scheduled in relaxation time for me. I learned at an early age that creating a small space to disconnect kept me clear, stable, and free from "burning out." I have always wanted to pay that forward and assist others in creating a similar mental [and] emotional space.
At Tranquil Existence, located in a quaint brick cottage with white columns, therapists dissolve pain and tension from bodies and minds. They soothe tender muscles and alleviate chronic pain with massages tailored to individual needs. They also work to improve the quality of clients' lives with therapeutic breathing exercises, reiki, and other healing techniques.
UpZen Health's highly trained team of chiropractors and massage therapists takes a holistic approach to wellness, soothing the body and mind with therapeutic massage. During the 90-minute relaxation massage, clients rest on a cushy table in a private room while a certified tension catcher gently kneads and strokes sore muscles and tense limbs, coaxing anxiety and stress from the body and trapping it in a mason jar. Offering benefits to all types of bodies, the calming massage can boost circulation, fight insomnia, hone foot-ear coordination, and promote a deep sense of wellbeing.
Stress. Poor circulation. Limited range of motion. All of that can slip away once one of the licensed therapists at Elements Massage gets involved. Each week, the studio opens up hundreds of massage appointments, which represent opportunities to simply relax or rid oneself of a range of issues. Each therapist has trained in deep tissue and swedish massage, and many have experience in other techniques—from prenatal therapy to hot stone massage. But before they ever knead a muscle or activate the body's secret levitation mode, the therapists consult closely with each client, pinpointing his or her issues and coming up with the best possible treatment plan.
Massage and Fitness SLC helps clients not only build stronger bodies in group exercise classes, but also unwind after their workouts with custom massages. Licensed massage therapist Elizabeth Anne Galloway targets testy areas such as the triceps and glutes with the gliding kneads of Swedish massage as well as the probing motions of the deep-tissue technique. Scalp massages melt away tension using hot oil and pressure-point stimulation, and reflexology sessions activate specific sites on the feet, hands, and ears to promote improved health in corresponding areas of the body, including the liver, bladder, and dorsal fin.
