A Signature Spa provides a soothing boutique setting for pampering, beautification, and evading warrant-toting posses. Each Stress Melt Away package begins by treating pool propellers to a hot stone foot soak with eucalyptus while their owners knock back a complimentary beverage and light snack. Next, a potent combo of steam room and infrared sauna detoxes the body of such common poisons as poison, while a Swiss shower cleanses the corpus in a neutral, conflict-eluding locale. An application of cocoa-butter body moisturizer turns your dry skin's desert into a skin dessert, giving it the smoothness and sweet flavor of a relaxed, spreadable concoction that pairs well with toasted bread. A Signature Spa's technicians will then get the cranium tingling with the sweet smells of a peppermint scalp massage. The entire two-hour relaxathon wraps up with a 50-minute full-body massage that leaves you feeling as loose and limber as a spider monkey after yoga class.

Sprinting seemingly endlessly on a treadmill, daydreaming while pedaling a stationary bicycle, or using the same weight machines continually are activities that frequently plague most exercisers. None of these dull scenarios exist at CrossFit Santa Barbara, a fitness program that harnesses a different workout each day to blast participants with strength training and conditioning. Here, participants rotate through circuits, moving objects such as tires or small buildings before lifting weights and executing gymnastics movements, all of which result in increased endurance, agility, and strength.

In Scott Crawford's world, fitness is everything. First drawn to the importance of healthy living during a soccer career that would see him play professionally, Scott's interest initially centered on staying fit enough to take the pitch. However, he also found himself intrigued by the psychological side of wellness. This curiosity led him to earn degrees in psychology and study in Ph.D. programs for somatic and sports psychology. Along the way, he never neglected his physical side; after his playing career ended, he earned a slew of training certifications. Soon, he held licenses in personal training, bodywork, and yoga from governing bodies ranging from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and Stott Pilates to The Body Therapy Institute the White Lotus Foundation.

After cutting his teeth as a trainer at exclusive clubs and resorts throughout Texas and California, Scott finally blended his twin interests, founding SOMA Get Fit in 2007. There, he earned renown by devising custom-tailored wellness programs that combine goal-specific training with a holistic blend of mental-wellness counseling, Pilates, yoga, and nutrition education. Depending on his initial consultations, clients might sweat through adventurous sessions of beach and mountain training, ramble across forest paths on mountain bikes, or work their way through overnight retreats. This all-encompassing approach earned him a star-studded client list; past participants in his sessions include Calvin Klein, Michael Jordan, and Katy Perry. The press caught wind of his work, too, with glowing reviews appearing in the pages of Marie Claire, Sunset, and the Hollywood Reporter.

Now working with the Montecito Aesthetic Institute, Scott delivers his signature massages and bodywork treatments to clients within the center's tranquil modern treatment rooms.
