Growing up in the communist bloc of Poland, Danuta Bennett was surrounded by homogeneity. The same artwork and furniture that decorated her own home cropped up in her neighbors’ living spaces as well. This suffocating sameness stoked the fires of Danuta’s burgeoning artistic career and spurred her lifelong dedication to filling the world with unique forms of expression. Upon relocating to the United States from Poland in 1999, Danuta coalesced her two passions—art and science—into a career in ecology and an on-the-side hobby of selling her oil paintings, photographs, and drawings. Since then, Danuta’s body of work has grown exponentially, and she continues to expand her artistic repertoire to include digital images that blur the line between painting and photograph. From the weather-worn facade of an adobe building to the glistening beads of tail sweat on a hyper-alert squirrel, Danuta’s evocative art relies on simple lines and crisp color to invite deeper viewer reflection.
"I have always been a sucker for a good love story." So says Madison Hunter, one half of the photography duo behind i heart my groom, who attests in her online bio that she still sheds a tear at every wedding she captures from behind the lens. Along with her business partner and fellow romantic Felicia Greenwald, Hunter travels the country and the globe to capture all manner of love stories, from engagements to nuptials to the ethereal glow of mothers-to-be. Their past projects have led them to sandy beaches to snap candid shots of couples exchanging vows, feasting on barbecue, and prying horseshoe crabs from the bride’s train to romantic country carriage houses replete with vintage charm. Regardless of location, the snap-happy duo work closely with their subjects to ensure each shot is as unique as it is memorable so that the images will feel timeless for years to come.
Koolaburra draws inspiration from two sources: music and the easygoing lifestyle of Santa Barbara. Mixed together, these two elements have helped the company develop a carefree style of footwear that has spread across the globe and into the closets of some of Hollywood's biggest stars, including Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, and the Kardashians. In fact, the website lets you shop by celebrity, meaning you can find out exactly which Koolaburra items your favorite celeb wears under their Academy regalia. Of course, Koolaburra invites you to develop your very own style, too, starting with footwear and extending through accessories. Either way, the company keeps customers one step ahead of the trends by updating its inventory for every season.
