At the age of 10, Duncan McCollum fell 30 feet from a towering tree while trying to catch sight of a Cal-Stanford football game. With the fall came the consensus of a sprained back and a childhood filled with prescription medications and muscle relaxers to deal with his near-constant pain. He reinjured his back at the age of 20, and his friends, who were convinced that chiropractic care could help, dragged him to a chiropractor against his will. After taking x-rays and examining him, the chiropractor made a startling discovery—Duncan's initial fall from a decade ago had broken his back, and since then it had healed incorrectly.
"I was really nervous when he was about to adjust me for the first time," Duncan says. "After I jumped up from the intense shooting pain, for the first time in over a decade, I felt relief. I could get up and move!"
With continual treatments, Duncan slowly got his life back, and with it came great inspiration. He set out to become a Doctor of Chiropractic in order to help those who felt condemned to living with back pain, as he once did. Now, inside McCollum Wellness Center's cottage-like setting, he warmly welcomes patients and listens to their own life stories before eradicating aches and pains with gentle chiropractic treatments.

Doctor of Chiropractic Cheryl Graham knows a lot about how the human body moves, and not just because she's a chiropractor. She has studied movement her whole life, first as a young dancer who went on to dance professionally and then later as a college student who graduated with two bachelor's degrees in human development and dance. But Dr. Graham also worked in the grocery business for 20 years, where she sustained multiple labor-related injuries. In fact, she was working in the grocery business when she was introduced to chiropractic care. It helped heal her body and she was so impressed that she decided to become a chiropractor herself.
Now she oversees LionHeart Chiropractic, where patients rely on her combination of spinal adjustments, corrective exercises, and massage therapy to heal. Her colorful clinic also supports the art community by displaying the work of local artists.
There's more than one way to adjust a back at Sawyer Chiropractic Group. In fact, some of Dr. Scott Sawyer's spinal-adjustment methods are so gentle that patients may hardly feel them at all. Since 1997, Dr. Sawyer has been the director of the Wellness Center offering fast solutions for chronic pain. Dr. Sawyer's study of multiple techniques at the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic inform all of his treatment plans, which fall into two categories: relief and wellness care. The former seeks to correct the underlying causes of health problems, and the latter promotes injury prevention and helps patients achieve greater levels of health. To reach these goals, Dr. Sawyer calls on a team of specialists?including a massage therapist and nutritionist?to customize treatment plans to each patient's specific injuries and double-jointed vestigial tails. His team of specialists also assist with soft-tissue body work and gentle chiropractic care.
At Healing Waves Wellness Center, Doctors of Chiropractic Ian and Pamela Chambers unleash their expertise in a three-step program designed to usher in long-term wellness. The duo starts by addressing their patients' immediate concerns, helping alleviate aches with gentle adjustments that are customized to suit each unique spine or navigate around dorsal fins. Moving into the final two stages of care, the doctors work to upset deep-rooted causes of pain, such as poor posture, before attuning patients to the needs of their own bodies to promote a healthier lifestyle.
Dr. Craig Eymann of Aloha Chiropractic draws on more than 12 years of experience to help patients reduce their pain. Eschewing medications and surgery, he trains his hands on backbones and joints, nudging them into healthier positions to promote healing and improved mobility. But the doctor doesn't rely on his hands alone; spinal-decompression equipment gently relieves pressure from spinal disks to relieve pain.
