Each year, more than 60 galleries and artists from Los Angeles and the intangible web of the art world beyond flock to Art Los Angeles Contemporary like butterflies in migration. During their stay, they display their colors in Santa Monica's Barker Hangar, which hosts 40,000 square feet of exhibition space with 40-foot ceilings ideal for extra-tall installations or human pyramids made of Shaquille O’Neal sculptures. In addition to paintings and functional furniture from emerging and established artists, Art Los Angeles Contemporary also hosts a programming series of talks, curator-led panel discussions, and film screenings. This year, the exposition will spotlight Ceci n’est pas… Art Between France and Los Angeles, a cultural-exchange program culminating in more than 30 French-American collaborations.

Cirque Style Fitness’ founders, Ivo Gueorguiev, a former Cirque du Soleil acrobat and director, and Jill Hansen, an aerial performer and Pilates instructor, draw from a combined 60 years of experience in leading aerial workouts. They lead students of all fitness levels—no previous gymnastics or dance experience required—through their high-flying routines. Students ascend toward the ceiling, winding a bolt of silky fabric around their arms and calves, using techniques from gymnastics, Pilates, and how to crochet in midair. Instructors also delve into ballet techniques and on-the-ground circus routines to help pupils to improve their coordination, strength, and alignment.

As Karie Bible strides across Hollywood Forever Cemetery, the hem of her mourning gown absorbs dew from the gravesites of Douglas Fairbanks and Jayne Mansfield. She tours the cemetery for a living, leading groups to crypts and monuments that mark the remains of deceased celebrities. Whether recounting the legacy of actress Marion Davies or kneeling at the spike of grass that marks Carl "Alfalfa" Switzer's final resting place, she immerses tour-goers in Hollywood history. Each tour lasts about two hours and sheds light on cherished stars, as well as lesser-known entertainers and community members.

Largely known for their frequent live music, Harvelle's low-lit interior is an intimate setting for enjoying drinks, gourmet food, and live entertainment, six days a week. Huddled over candle-lit tables, couples can enjoy craft cocktails from the bar or edibles from the kitchen such as the brandy pulled-pork and brie sandwich with caramelized onions or the roasted tomato and garlic flatbread.
