  • Guitar Center
Since 1964, Guitar Center has paired musicians with guitars, keyboards, drums, Pro Audio gear, and necessary accessories, including DJ and recording equipment to capture newly made melodies. An iPad music-stand adaptor ($39.99) connects an iPad to a music stand, allowing musicians to access online programs and music apps on-stage, or to publicly dedicate a song to their online Scrabble partner. A clip-on tuner ($29.99) keeps notes pitch-perfect, and Guitar Center’s array of sheet music produces a wider variety of sounds than singing from a thesaurus, with options that include the C-surfing The Real Blues Book ($31.49). Stitch tighter harmonies by threading notes onto Slinky guitar strings ($3.79), or use the value of today's Groupon toward a larger purchase, such as the Epiphone Les Paul Special II guitar ($169–$179.99). Guitar Center rounds out its collection of gear with Pro Audio and DJ equipment, keyboards, and drums, allowing every band member or solo cymbal player to stock up on their chosen form of expression.

  • RK Music
RK Music’s instructors break their teaching philosophy down into three core components: building an emotional connection to music, honing technical mastery, and encouraging students to share their music with others. They live up to this code with every lesson, whether they’re mixing technical exercises in with fun songs, holding students to a practice schedule, or fostering social musicality through recitals, bands, and kazoo flash mobs. Instructors bring a breadth of experience to their lessons, collaborating with everyone from current students to professional performers. They also break out of the traditional one-on-one teaching structure, hosting both group sessions and summer rock camps, which give kids the experience of performing in their very own band.

  • South Tampa Center for the Arts
Established: 2010 Staff Size: 2?10 people Handicap Accessible: Yes Parking: Parking lot Most Popular Attraction/Offering: Our performance theatre class, which encompasses acting, singing, and dancing Recommended Age Group: All ages Q&A with the Studio Director What is one fun, unusual fact about your business? South Tampa Center for the Arts was voted 2013 Best Theatre Group on Tampa's A-List. We are also one of the only Performance Theatre Groups for students ages 4?14 in South Tampa. We obtain the rights through Music Theatre International to produce two musicals each year. Some of our credits include Disney productions such as Beauty and the Beast, Jungle Book, Little Mermaid, and Peter Pan. What special training do you or your staff have? Our faculty members have college degrees related to education and/or the arts. Also, our program has an educational-based approach and our mission is "Enriching Students' Lives with Education through Entertainment". As the old adage says, "Stuff happens." What training do you and your staff have to stay ahead of the unexpected? All of our theatre faculty members are currently working professionals in the field, so aside from teaching at South Tampa Center for the Arts, they have contracts with local and out-of-state theatre companies. Our students and their parents have the opportunity to see their instructors performing on stage throughout the year and have expressed how much they enjoy being able to do so. Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover? Our largest and most popular program is Performance Theatre. However, these same students often enroll in the private piano and voice lessons we offer, as well as our dance classes. We also established Glee Club back in 2010 and it remains a popular program also run by our theatre director.
