Led by Jun (John) Cao, licensed acupuncturist and graduate of the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Active Acupuncture Partners specializes in pain treatment and offers services to treat a wide variety of common conditions including type 2 diabetes, arthritis, allergies, digestive disorders, restless legs, and stress-ball addiction. Your visit to the treatment facility will commence with a thorough consultation, during which Jun Cao will skillfully assess what ails you and devise a treatment that suits your individual needs. During acupuncture sessions, small needles are strategically applied to address current conditions of concern, rerouting the body's flow of energy and manipulating its channels to get your Qi ready for primetime. As part of your visit, you will also receive a tui na manipulative therapy massage, which features traditional techniques that have been practiced in China for more than 2,000 years and have been used to treat chronic musculoskeletal disorders and other conditions.
Working as a biologist in the field of stem-cell research, Dr. Bradley Mouroux found himself suffering from a combination of back pain and insomnia. Now a chiropractor himself, Dr. Mouroux helps children and adults suffering from car accidents, sports injuries, and somersaulting mishaps.
After Hours Healthcare’s medical team—led by Dr. Richard Adrouny, who is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology––prides itself on guiding clients to good health with an array of convenient, budget-friendly services. The clinic’s doctors and physician's assistants perform nonemergency treatments ranging from physicals and pediatric care to minor dermatology procedures, such as the removal of warts, skin tags, or chemistry notes scrawled with permanent marker. After Hours Healthcare’s vaccination room sets minds at ease with cushy leather recliners surrounded by impressionist paintings of water lilies, and its homey reception area greets visitors with blue and pink hues and a quietly bubbling waterfall. Accommodating busy work schedules, the clinic welcomes walk-in guests until 10 p.m. on weeknights.
A heartbeat, a grasping hand, a tiny yawn, a smile––these are the moments that make the long wait of expectant parenthood worthwhile. Yet often they go unnoticed. The singular snapshots provided by traditional sonogram technology offer only brief glimpses into the future. Lance Dursi, creator of Scanbabies, sought to give parents something more––something more personal and more reassuring.
Initially an obstetric sonogram consultant, Lance worked until he gained registration from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. Now, with nearly 30 years of baby-scanning practice and thousands of baby scans under his belt, Lance records fetal inhabitants with 3-D and 4-D technology, yielding prints, digital images, and videos of the sonograms for later family viewing and projection onto Times Square billboards.
At Vision Quest Spine & Sport Clinic, clients’ aches and pains are treated by a two-person team of Doctor of Chiropractic Dino Del Mastro—who is also a sports therapist—and massage therapist Hannah. They pool their skills to relieve neck and back pain caused by chronic activities, sports injuries, and traumatic events. Both chiropractor and massage therapist are lifelong athletes, so they’re well familiar with the lasting damage an injury can inflict on the body if it never properly heals. With this in mind, they spend their time working to ensure that their clients’ spines and musculature recover and stay strong and secure. Dr. Del Mastro uses spinal adjustment to correct and prevent imbalances within backs that can exacerbate problems throughout the body. Hannah focuses her massage therapy on releasing pain from deep within muscles to improve sports performance and allow her athletic clients the range of movement necessary to stretch into the shape of a football.
