As advocates for clean, active travel, Active Transportation Alliance strives to make bicycling, walking, and using public transit convenient and safe. Staff members and volunteers organize fun events, such as Bike the Drive, designed to promote the active-transportation movement. Additionally, Safe Routes to School and other programs encourage physical activity—such as walking or bicycling to school—and work to make sure such activities are safe for children. Ultimately, Active Transportation Alliance envisions a Chicagoland where half of all trips are made by biking, walking, and public transit, a dramatic shift from environmentally harmful and sedentary forms of travel.
The experienced designers at Epoch Floral create upscale, vibrant floral bouquets and arrangements for weddings, parties, corporate events, and gifts. Master designer Mike Hines and his staff use fresh flowers each day to design singular arrangements for clients, which have included such distinguished names as the Elysian Hotel in Chicago and the Grand Hyatt Dubai. The 4,000-square-foot studio sports elegant gray walls and 25-foot ceilings, and plays host to flower-arranging classes and private events, such as receptions or beekeeper pollination parties.
Originally founded in 1957, Old Town School of Folk Music teaches and facilitates performances of arts rooted in the traditions of diverse American and global communities. More than 700 accredited music, dance, theater, and visual-arts courses expand the cultural horizons of students of all ages and abilities, and more than 300 concerts and events reach more than 200,000 audience members every year.
Founder Frank Hamilton hoped that through his nonprofit academy "teacher and student would be partners in learning." Today, the school continues that tradition, fostering supportive learning environments that draw from an accessible education model. The school also presents performances by internationally known touring artists and Chicago's local artists—as well as its own staff and students—nearly every weekend, with free world-music concerts on Wednesday nights. Old Town School operates three facilities in Lincoln Park and Lincoln Square, including one 425-seat and two 150-seat concert halls, 64 classrooms, two music stores, a café, and a resource center.

Since 1950, the year Barry-Regent Cleaners laundered its first garment, the now second-generation family business has been immaculately cleaning clothes using state-of-the-art equipment. Alongside traditional dry cleaning, it offers specialized shirt laundering and aqua cleaning, which uses water instead of solvents to more-effectively remove stains from some outerwear and casual wear. Most items can be returned to their owners on the same day as drop-off, and Barry-Regent delivers to select zip codes so that customers don't need to sheepishly retrieve their clothes while concealing themselves with branches. Alterations and specialty cleaning of wedding dresses, leathers, and furs are also available.
