Carl Sonder, MD is on a mission: to create beauty and happiness in a world often beset by strife. He has seen his fair share of the latter. After studying internal medicine at the prestigious Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Dr. Sonder served in the military as a general medical officer in Vietnam. His focus was on the treatment of severe burn injuries, and it was here that a lifelong passion for aesthetic medicine was born. After his military service, Dr. Sonder became board-certified in psychiatry and neurology, and practiced psychiatry and internal medicine in New York City for 25 years. Dr. Sonder then relocated to Arizona in 1999, and nurtured his interest in aesthetics with a series of courses and trainings in aesthetic technology and cosmetic procedures. He was recently elected to the American Academy of Hyperbaric Physicians after becoming certified in the use of the above-hospital-grade Khrunichev hyperbaric oxygen chamber.
Dr. Sonder now directs the team of doctors, nurses, and medical aestheticians at Regency Medical Spa. The clinical team combats signs of aging on the face with injectable fillers and Botox, and contours bodies with anti-cellulite mesotherapy sessions or LipoDissolve procedures. The reception area at the Phoenix facility boasts a large, reddish-brown painting that mirrors the rich red floors and accentuates the brown leather chairs. The Scottsdale site is also bedecked in soothing earth tones. Both locations offer a private concierge driver service to get clients home after treatments or acquaint extraterrestrials with local businesses.
Spa 810 is like a modern version of the cocoon: after entering the facility, clients undergo cosmetic changes before returning to their lives renewed. With a slew of technology at their fingertips, technicians are able to conceal signs of age spots, stimulate collagen production, and firm skin using noninvasive laser and pulsed-light systems. Their skin treatments also extend to crystal-free microdermabrasion and exfoliating chemical peels that improve skin's tone and texture.
Among the more unique aspects of the spa is its capsules, which promote relaxation during facials. Each individual chamber uses vibrational massage, gentle warmth, and aromatherapy to help clients sink into a deeply restful state during their procedure. According to the technicians, 20 minutes in the capsule can reenergize patrons just as effectively as two hours of sleep or three espresso-filled IV drips.
The aestheticians and massage therapists at The Beauty Scene rejuvenate, tan, and relax bodies with a roster of facials and spa services. Inside their five treatment rooms, they attempt to rid bodies of unwanted hair with full-body waxing treatments and erase signs of aging with facials, peels, and microdermabrasion. During facial services, the staff daubs faces with professional skincare products made from natural ingredients. These include Éminence products, which clean and condition faces with handmade, cruelty-free, organic ingredients, and Image serums, which are free of the parabens, petrochemicals, and kitten tears that make up most skincare lines.
Aesthetician Ann Casillo understands the difficulties of living in a desert clime. Dry air, extreme temperatures, and dating cacti all take their toll on the complexion. At her new location in North Scottsdale, her signature facials work to reverse this damage with rejuvenating ingredients and pampering add-ons. Natural solutions sourced from pumpkin and fruit coax out a healthy glow, and more advanced LED lights and exfoliating procedures leave skin refreshed. Ann also sells products by Skin Script to help clients continue the beautifying process at home.
Owner Stefanie Maass, a board-certified family nurse practitioner, works alongside a team of specialists to enhance clients’ appearances with services ranging from beauty injections to laser treatments. Carefully administered Botox Cosmetic, Radiesse, or Juvéderm XC work to turn back the hands of time by temporarily erasing wrinkles found throughout the face. Alternatively, the center's certified laser technicians wield light-emitting devices to reduce wrinkles, remove spider veins, and clear complexions. Scottsdale Skin and Holistic Health also offers nutrition-focused services such as dietary counseling and food-sensitivity testing, ideal for clients looking to enhance their beauty from the inside out or find out why they weep when they eat baby corn.
North Scottsdale Laser & Skin Care Clinic's team of aestheticians and laser technicians—led by board-certified naturopathic physician Dr. Jessica Anderson—not only offers an expansive list of anti-aging skincare services, but also makes sure clients get paired with the right one. The staff members precede each service with a consultation to determine a customized procedure plan catered to the client's skin type, beauty needs, and the vote of every pore. During treatments, clients can relax in sunny, private rooms surrounded by framed artwork hanging from earth-toned walls. Dr. Anderson herself performs all injections and brings her clients a wealth of knowledge about naturopathy, noninvasive therapies, and homeopathic skincare solutions.
