Applause Salon might sound like a place to get a haircut, but in reality it's so much more. Sure, stylists hydrate, color, and style tresses with professional products from a row of sleek black salon chairs. But the space includes a full spa, as well, where aestheticians add makeup, subtract body hair, and enhance overall skin health with custom facials. Nail techs perform pedicures at couch stations outfitted with translucent, punchbowl-style footbaths. They even have a registered nurse on staff, who administers age-defying injections of Botox, Dysport, and Juv?derm, and devises personalized HGC diet plans.
The stylists at Autumn's Hair Studio transform frizz-laden mops into sleek, radiant manes via formaldehyde-free Brazilian-blowout treatments that encase strands in a protective protein layer to smooth out curly cuticles. After a tension-taming shampoo, a certified Brazilian-blowout stylist will divide hair into sections, lightly dusting each segment with the smoothing treatment before blow drying and flat-ironing hair straighter than a ruler in a medieval torture rack. An express Brazilian blowout takes about an hour to complete, approximately half the time of a traditional blowout, and it allows clients to wash and style their hair after only eight hours. Results typically last up to eight weeks, depending on how often hair is shampooed or champagned.
The stylists at Mozell & Company Hair specialize in healthy haircare for black and multi-racial hair textures, whether that hair is straight, naturally curly, or carved out of wood. They offer haircuts, relaxers, and texturizers. In addition, they keep locks healthy and shiny by styling hair with minimal products, and they show clients how to maintain styles at home.
BNB Hair Design owner Babak began to carve out his corner of the salon industry in 2002, training internationally under master stylists. Because he?s worked on the hair of people in numerous countries, he?s skilled at styling diverse hair types and designing looks that flatter features of all shapes. Now settled at his own salon, Babak continues to customize hairdos according to each individual?s bone structure and preferences. In addition to haircuts, he also offers a full array of color services, Brazilian blowouts, and conditioning treatments.
The artists at Salon Red, Heather Harrison and Anthony Sommers, mold manes behind a storefront covered in eclectic stones and tiles. After guests pass under an awning supported by three columns, a spacious waiting room beckons them with overstuffed couches. In the salon proper, Anthony and Heather work amid hot-pink walls, offering services such as highlights, hair extensions, and conditioning treatments, as well as products by Pravana and Bosley. They also help brides look their best by fixing their hair, applying their makeup, and then painting them blue.
Before Heather entered the beauty industry by way of the Avalon School of Cosmetology, she served in the Army National Guard and taught for Head Start. When she isn't cropping mops and embellishing faces with makeup, she uses her skills to style models at photo shoots. Anthony Sommers attended Earl's Academy of Beauty and uses his talents with both classic and edgy techniques to draw out his clients' personalities. After hours, Anthony arranges coiffures and designs wigs for Ballet Arizona dance productions. He also works with a team during the shows to prepare performers for the stage.
