Inspired by her Jewish family heritage, Susan Herlands opened My Mother's Delicacies Inc. in 1988 to share her grandmother's respected rugelach recipe and other traditional treats that are certified kosher dairy. Shoppers can peruse an assortment of the coveted, hand-rolled rugelach ($14.99/lb.), a crescent- or square-shaped pastry crafted using a buttery, flaky, cream-cheese-infused crust and speckled with cinnamon, sugar, or nuts. A pound of Hungarian hand-rolled kipfel cookies ($14.99) bubbles over with raspberry, walnut, or apricot fillings, and a small tin of black and white cookies ($21.95) dazzles dessert lovers with a duochromatic treat as decadent as snacking on a 1920s film star. The shop sells pastries individually and by the pound as well as platters and gift towers sizeable enough for parties or a high tea with longtime frenemy Betty Crocker.
Dishes from across Asia make up the menu at Oriental Buffet, where you can try everything from moo shu to lo mein. Chicken can be dressed up in more than 10 different saucy outfits—try the chicken curry, broccoli, or with garlic sauce. There are also numerous beef dishes, such as pepper steak and Szechuan beef, as well as seafood plates, including some that incorporate shrimp with cashews or lobster sauce.
The chefs of Four Seasons Asian Bistro pull culinary inspiration from countries across Asia, from the spicy curries of Thailand to the tangy teriyaki dishes of Japan. They fold fresh seafood into a variety of creative sushi rolls, garnishing them with innovative toppings such as honey wasabi and mango sauce. At table-side hibachi grills, the chefs dramatically sizzle up plump morsels of steak, lobster, and scallops before audiences of captivated diners. Their guests perch on soft red chairs and banquettes in the elegant dining room, sipping on passion fruit martinis and lychee sangria.

What was the inspiration for starting this business?
Stan and Joanne started making wine ... to carry on the family tradition of home winemaking, but they had a lot of learning to do as they went through the process. After years of experimenting at home, they tried making wine at one of the Vintner's Circle locations. They couldn't believe how easy it was to make wine and how each batch always came out tasting great. Joanne and Stan decided to open a location here in NEPA to share their experience with new and experienced winemakers here.
What?s your favorite part about your job?
We love spending time with our customers and helping them make a great tasting wine. It's fantastic to see groups of family and friends come in together and really enjoy their experience here, whether they are making wine or attending one of our classes or events. Stan and Joanne's favorite event by far is the Sangria Challenge. They love seeing how much fun the teams have in the trivia challenge and how creative the teams get in building their Sangria and designing their labels.
