Juliet Bettencourt draws on years of experience in skincare and massage therapy to soothe bodies with treatments that blend the principles of both within a relaxing spa environment. After her own struggles with acne compelled her to help others, Juliet enrolled in beauty school, where she began to augment her uncommon empathy for patients with vast reserves of skincare knowledge. Today, she matches that unique combination of compassion and clinical precision with products from Raya Cosmetics and other trusted brands that cater to normal and sensitive skin types. When she isn’t flushing out pores and polishing cheeks during facials, Juliet unties knots of tension with massages, waxes away unwanted fuzz, and waters tattoos of roses that have begun to shed their petals.

The sound of snipping scissors echoes throughout the airy interior of Rumours, where fresh fruit-infused water, gleaming wood floors, and the fronds of potted plants greet men and women alike. The glimmer of gold and chestnut reflects the inspired glint in stylist Kayln Pascal’s eye as she expertly shifts mane shades with highlights or full color treatments. Though known across Capitola for her skills with color, Kayln’s talents extend to all aspects of hair design, from trimming shaggy manes to lengthening tresses with extensions for hoisting up Prince Charmings. Along with the complimentary glass of fruit-infused water, each of the salon’s customers receives a relaxing head, scalp, and hand massage, a paraffin wrap, and access to WiFi.

Mother. Community activist. Cosmetologist. Hair stylist. Kimberly Locatelli has artfully filled all four of these roles throughout her life, combining the latter two to found Beauty Naturally. A strong believer in eschewing chemicals for natural beauty practices whenever possible, Kimberly delivers lavish salon and spa treatments with a preference for environmentally responsible products instead of those overloaded with chemicals or squeeze cheese. Throughout the day, she can be found hard at work snipping unkempt tresses into chic haircuts, sculpting eyebrows into defined arches, or soothing bodies with deep-tissue massages.

Just blocks away from the Pacific Ocean lies a fountain of youth, or so patrons of Tonic Salon & Spa would have you believe. Within the salon and spa’s warm, beige-colored walls, the staff employ products made with organic ingredients from Budapest during spa treatments that purify pores and leave skin looking better than the day it arrived in the mail. In addition to facials, beauticians also perform waxing, sunless tanning, and five varieties of massage services.

The salon staff also wields scissors and hair products to untangle and shape locks into popular styles. Partial and full coloring services touch up seasonal looks or spy disguises by adding highlights and new pigments to layers of hair, and conditioning treatments harness the power of tea tree and Moroccanoil products to strengthen hair.

Spa Pajaro Dunes joined Bella Salon and Spa in 2008, merging the relaxing massages made famous at the original location with spa services performed by licensed aesthetician and makeup artist Jennifer Schacher. Pulling from advanced skincare knowledge gleaned while working for a renowned plastic surgeon, Jennifer works tirelessly to combat acne, fine lines, and poor skin tone using only vegan products that contain no animal byproducts and dress only in fruit leather.
