Tucked into a two-story loft space, Mind Unwind is both an art gallery and a happening events space. Visitors can peruse the rotating art that cascades across the long stretch of walls or join classes such as cartooning, painting, or Paint It Up, which is hosted at local bars. Though only recently established, Mind Unwind holds fast to its vision of becoming a collective for local artists, a community outreach organization, and a space for all types of performances. A portion of all Mind Unwind event proceeds go to a non-profit that aims to reinstate art-education in schools.
Wallflower Custom Framing owner Courtney Sievertson applies nearly 10 years of framing experience to every custom border she helps her clients design. She keeps her selection of more than 1,800 frames stocked with only trusted sources, gathering wrapped leather frames from saddle makers in Peru, frames with hand-carved corners and individual leafing from C&J in New York, and carbonite casings from expert makers in Cloud City. Her commitment to delivering excellent customer service often leads her out of the store after hours for consultations.
In addition to providing framing services, Courtney uses Wallflower to showcase the work of local artists in its gallery space, dubbed the Shooting Gallery.
West Seattle Bowl's lanes are a piece of West Seattle history, even if they don't look it at first glance. Strip away the modern scoring system, the updated decor, and 18 of the now 32 lanes, and it's easy to imagine the families of pilgrims bowling at the alley's grand opening in 1948. Since those early days. West Seattle Bowl has benefited the community beyond just giving it a fun place to rack up Xs and /s. The owners regularly host charity-bowling events, which have brought in roughly $100,000 annually during recent years.
West Seattle Bowl is as much about specials as it is about good old-fashioned bowling. Weekenders can take advantage of Saturday mornings' "Breakfast & Bowl," for example, where the on-site Highstrike Grill serves up three complimentary games of bowling with its eggs. Bowlers can also gear up in fluorescents from the pro-shop for a Saturday night in the GlowZone?black-lit bowling set to music.

The clatter of tumbling pins precipitate cheers over strikes and high scores in Roxbury Lanes & Casino’s bowling arena, and silent staring contests precede shouts of victory and wails of defeat in the venue’s daily poker tournaments. The tables feature many stripes of the classic card game, including Texas hold'em, four card, and pai gow, as well as double-deck blackjack. To refuel for further sporting, visitors retire to the built-in sports bar, where they chow down on new york strip steaks, custom burgers, and a full selection of breakfast eats in the comforting glow of flat-screen televisions and the bartender’s neon-rimmed glasses.
