In lieu of mainstream Hollywood movies, the Capri Community Film Society screens an eclectic mix of contemporary independent and foreign films at its movie house, The Capri Theatre. In addition to the latest releases, the society also finds time to project repertory classics such as Vertigo and The African Queen back on the big screen. Besides indie and old-school cinema, the 1941-built theatre invites children to animated summer matinees and occasionally hosts directors for Q&As following their movies.

Maya's provides feminine fitness fanatics with a fun, engaging way to tone their bodies and stay healthy. By focusing on developing core muscles, Maya's friendly, experienced instructors help students shimmy and undulate their way to trimmer, more shapely soul temples. In addition to the bodily benefits, belly-dancing lessons also improve the mind and spirit with stress relief and confidence upgrades. Beginners' classes are held Thursdays at 6 p.m. and typically contain 15–20 people, so ladies can tap into the motivating group atmosphere while also being able to get attention from the teacher if they need help with a certain move or in the event of a veil fire.

Crunching metal and the sweet smell of burning rubber prevail as the Monster X Tour invades the Ocean Center, thrilling all ages in an action-packed motorsports showcase. Bigfoot, the forefather of all station-wagon smashers, leads a fleet of competitive 10,000-pound monster trucks, including Bear Foot and Black Knight, through jaw-dropping races, wheelie contests, and freestyle car composting. Transaurus, a two-story transforming robot that never learned to love, buries his woes by chomping entire cars in his massive jaws while watching reruns of Felicity. Before the show, VIP tickets also grant access to the Pit Party, where fans can have autographs signed by the drivers. During intermission, fans get the opportunity to eschew sea level with a ride inside a monster truck or visit General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and learn its true feelings about excessive hood sliding.

This rendition of the J.M. Barrie–penned childhood classic stars Sarah Litzsinger, the longest-running Belle in the Broadway production of Beauty and the Beast, and features well-known songs such as "I Won't Grow Up," "I'm Flying," and "Pirate Song." A source of nostalgia for adults and an early introduction to magic, wonder, and spandex tights for the young, Peter Pan is exciting and engaging for all ages. Watch as Pan leads his wily pack of Lost Boys away from grown-up responsibilities such as showering or tax returns, all while the villainous Captain Hook seeks five-fingered revenge on the Neverland hero. And if the play's the thing, the theater itself is the other star of the show. The complex, constructed of more than one million bricks, is set in a scenic 250-acre park featuring English-style grounds, a lake, and an authentic invisible Loch Ness monster.

Mötley Crüe has rocked stages for three decades with its signature mélange of intense guitar, heavy sound, and over-the-top stage outfits. Singer Vince Neil roars out lyrics over the shred-filled soundscape created by guitarist Mick Mars, bassist Nikki Sixx, and drummer Tommy Lee, creating memorable tunes that resound in the minds of listeners like the ringing of heavily tattooed bells. The concert also features influential special guest New York Dolls supplying rock-filled decibels in volume enough to satisfy the most voracious eardrums.

Debuting in spring 2013, the Xtreme South Football League features semi-professional teams from all across Dixie. Its 14 teams include representatives from Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi, and eight squads hailing from Alabama. As one of those eight teams, the Alabama Crusaders give Birmingham Metro, Jefferson, and Shelby County football fans with a home team to cheer for. The Crusaders' main goal is to develop local talent: they give players an alternative to going overseas or posing as a peewee team's tackling dummy just to stay in the game. Fans can watch those players display high-octane athleticism during home games, which take place atop the gridiron at Pelham High School.
