Upper Chesapeake Bay Charters' USCG-licensed captains and career fishermen know the Chesapeake Bay waters like the back of their hands. They use this knowledge to ferry small groups on charters aboard one of the company’s two vessels, helping clients to snag catfish and use trotlines to mine blue crabs. During all trips, the expert fishermen supply equipment, clean catches, and snap pictures of people holding fish while looking quietly triumphant, like a cat who just learned how to flush a toilet.

Additionally, Upper Chesapeake Bay Charters' crew uses their watercraft to embark on sightseeing tours. They point out wildlife as well as Baltimore landmarks such as the USS Constellation.

Chesapeake Bay is 200 miles long, but that’s not the only reason it’s the United States’ largest estuary. The Bay also serpentines off into hundreds of rivers and creeks, accessible with South River Boat Rentals’ vessels. Seafarers explore the estuary’s fringes in the powerboats and sailboats, cruising past historic sites, such as Jamestown and Tangier Island. Alternatively, fishing parties set sail for piscatorial hot spots, casting from the boats’ decks. To teach newbies the ropes before they hit the water, the company’s team hosts sessions on boating basics, from steering to stopping at fish crossings.

Captain Brian Mayer has seafaring in his blood. As a boy, he watched his father command vessels around Chesapeake Bay. Now, as a 100 Ton Master Captain at Marauder Charters, he carries on his family's legacy during intimate afternoon and evening cruises. Groups of up to four passengers board a 23' Wellcraft, which sports advanced electronics, tested safety equipment, and a spacious cockpit filled with cushy seating. Once aboard, they set out for Maryland's waterways, traversing rivers, creeks, and waterfronts during three-hour cruises along some of the state's most scenic stretches.

The boat isn't short on creature comforts, guests can grab a shaved ice from the cooler, connect their iPod to the JBL sound system, and kick back while Captain Mayer cuts gently across the water. During evening cruises, the soundtrack of your choosing sets the tone and with boat's underwater light system, passengers can catch a glimpse of action below the surface even when the sun goes down.
