At Curves, you'll move around a circuit of hydraulic resistance machines that have been designed to work with women's bodies and promote weight loss, protect against osteoporosis, and deal with arthritis. An experienced trainer is always nearby to help manage your machine maneuvering and your muscle making. Instead of fiddling with weight stacks and losing your momentum, the hydraulic machines use your body weight and fitness level to create resistance that matches your abilities, decreasing the risk of soreness or injury. Because traditional lift-and-lower motions create bulky muscles, each machine uses push-and-pull motions to create toned, lean muscles perfect for crushing a grapefruit without looking like you can.
With 38 years of teaching experience and a certified national examiner for Dance Masters of America in tap, ballet, jazz, acrobatics, and modern, owner and instructor Kathi Nallia expertly guides students through the mysteries of movement. Aspiring hoofers of any age may enroll in a number of classes, whether it’s for improving energy and flexibility or saving the local summer camp from foreclosure in a marathon dance-off. Students are welcome to explore the expressive grace of ballet, jazz, or tap in the Adult Dance class, land a leading role with instruction in the Musical Theatre Training course, or show a toddler the basics of rhythm in Artistic Tots. Nallia's considerate dance instructors will patiently work with students of all kinds, whether they're competitive tap dancers or haven't danced since Bob Dole's "The Funkadelic-In-Chief" presidential campaign. Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
Each month we run a challenge to keep clients coming in, such as coming to class 25 times in one month to earn a free T-shirt. We change each class, so if you go to a specific class more than once that week, it will be different. Also, we have a variety of classes, so if our clients don't like one style, there are many more from which to choose.
Besides working out, what else can clients do to spend their time at your facility?
Free monthly measurements occur every month to show improvements and body change. We also offer help with nutrition guidance.
Do you run your gym according to a particular exercise philosophy?
We call ourselves a fitness boutique. We offer a variety of classes with fun, energetic, and motivational instructors that keep clients having fun and laughing while sweating and burning calories all in one awesome hour.

Though the exercise equipment at Gold’s Gym beeps and whistles just outside the Ringside Fitness boxing classroom, the focus of Ringside’s students is set on the punching bags before them. Over the thwack of fists and feet hitting the bags, an instructor calls out instruction and motivation, drawing insight from years of training and experience in the ring.
On other days, it’s professional boxers or martial-arts experts lead students through techniques and conditioning exercises. In addition to Ringside’s training classes, the instructors conduct lessons dedicated to self-defense, competition tactics, and how to punch pizza dough to make a crisp, flaky crust.
