Photographer Shannon Youngblood has two specialties. The first is capturing the happiness and tranquility in the faces of children, families, and newlyweds, often using natural lighting and rustic backdrop. Her second specialty is creating alphabet photography. Camera in hand, she ventures into natural and urban environments, finding scenes and objects that resemble letters: the branches of a tree might make a V; a wrought-iron fence might form the curves of a G. Those images then combine to spell words, paying tribute to anything from a family name to a person's favorite condiment.
Andrew Kenworthy specializes in wedding, engagement, maternity, and family photography. But his skills don’t stop there; his website also shows off a bevy of fashion and glamour shots and documentations of live events. Some of his fine art photographs have even been exhibited at the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego. Though Kenworthy's subjects might vary widely—from a child amid pumpkins to a fire-swallowing beauty bathed in blue neon light—his skilled eye for photography frames them well. Smiles and natural interactions between people shine through against backgrounds such as stages or pastoral scenes, enhancing and immortalizing subject personalities in prints, digital galleries, or latte art.
At Absolute Images, photo shoots and fresh air are almost synonymous. The studio specializes in outdoor shoots. One, for example, captures a father and son playing in fallen leaves; another depicts a toddler lounging on a lawn chair twice his size. To complement family and child portraiture, the studio also offers on-location wedding shoots.
Though he’s worked with juggernauts such as Purina, Animal Planet, and the Discovery Channel, professional shutterbug Don Wright is just as happy to capture images of families, weddings, and historical places. In doing so, he’s able to focus on the storytelling aspect of photography, zooming the lens in on the sweet glances during a married couple’s first dance or using a time-lapse technique to make clusters of stars in the night sky appear to be moving around in circles in an effort to catch each other. To glean a sense of the rich composition of Don’s work, one might look at a cityscape photo of Nashville on his website—red-brick buildings in the foreground contrast with a deep-blue sky, together popping with the electric vividness of police lights.

Fotogenik Photography began in 1999 as Curran Photography, the project of owner Mike Curran. While working as the official track photographer at Fairgrounds Speedway, Mike met his wife, Rebecca—also a professional photographer—and today the two snap photos in tandem, both in their shop and on location. The duo handles family photos, headshots, and business photos as well as on-location shoots for sports games, proms, graduations, and weddings. They also share their expertise via classes on Photoshop, DSLR cameras, and natural-light portrait photography, which is far less spooky than campfire-flashlight portraits.
