The yoga instructors at The Family Yoga Center Inc. help practitioners of all ages and skills center their minds and relax their bodies. Directed by Jennifer Orobello, who specializes in alignment-based yoga, classes involve mastering one pose at a time. First, students achieve the pose, and then they hold it in order to foster deeper mind-body connections and increase strength and flexibility. Confident that yoga is accessible to everyone, the instructors encourage using yoga wedges, blocks, or walls in order to help with holding poses.
CrossFit Kryptonite trainer Scott DeTore proves his skill in the gym every day, but it wasn't until 2011 that he proved it on a national stage. He won the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games in the master's division and came in second in 2012. He and his fellow trainers—both competitors in the Reebok CrossFit Games themselves—teach students the art of CrossFit, a functional yet high-intensity fitness program that scales its workouts to participants of all skill levels. Their facility houses all of the equipment necessary for these ever-rotating workouts, which incorporate pull-ups, squats, kettlebells, climbing ropes, and gymnastics rings.
Zumba. Pole fitness. Hot yoga. Meditation. The fitness classes at POSFIT by Legworks may span a wide spectrum of exercises, but they all reflect the spirit of POSFIT, which derives its name from "positively fit." That motto is fitness center's guiding force, encouraging trainers to cultivate a motivational environment of contagious positive energy. The mostly cardio classes ensure fun workouts by keeping most classes up-tempo, such as aptly named Pound: 45 minutes of toning moves set to rock 'n' roll.
