No one goes to CrossFit Reason
to hop on a treadmill. And you won?t see any weight machines here, either. Instead, a trip to the 3,000-square-foot gym gets you a custom workout closely monitored by a certified CrossFit coach. These workouts change every day and include functional fitness exercises, from Olympic-style weightlifting that prepares you for lifting heavy objects to rope climbing, which prepares you for climbing a rope. The small group class size allows coaches to customize each workout so participants at any level feel challenged while swinging Kettlebells or jumping onto plyometric boxes. For even more personalized workouts, the coaches work with members one-on-one during personal training sessions.

Apart from your business's main attraction, do you offer any "hidden" services or activities that visitors are always delighted to learn about?
Our head coach has 13 years of experience and was an NCAA Division 1 strength and conditioning coach, and our assistant head coach has 11 years of personal-training experience. So the level of detail and professionalism is more than most people receive at other CrossFit gyms.
What is one fun, unusual fact about your business?
We started our business out of a two-car garage and have grown into a 3,750-square-foot facility.
Have you ever been a patron of your own business? If so, what was the most enjoyable part?
Yes. The best part was the coaching that we received and the attention to detail that allowed us to get better from where we were before.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
We want you to have FUN.
Though the CrossFit exercise technique has steamrolled the nation, CrossFit Madre is family place through and through. It's an amalgamation of Peter Sandford's background in hapkido and weight conditioning and his wife Rocki's masters degree in public health and nutrition from UCLA. During intimate group classes, the instructors lead students in workouts that range from high-energy cardio and bar work to kettlebell weight training. This personalized combination of techniques helps clients set individual goals to tone physiques and promote endurance.
Exercisers can expect two things at CrossFit Crown City: variety and intensity. That's because co-owners Peter Danenberg and Tom Scoble and their staff of fellow CrossFit Level 1–certified instructors adhere to CrossFit's workout of the day. The ever-changing workout pits muscles against a series of functional exercises such as push-ups, pull-ups, and squats. In order to maximize the results, the trainers encourage exercisers to complete the workout as vigorously as possible. Augmenting matters, the studio keeps an arsenal of Rogue Fitness equipment, famously used to train the "Hang in There" cat.
