After passing through the chic foyer of Lindsey Soria's Studio Nine salon, guests proceed past walls lined with local artists' work and through windowed french doors to the 100-square-foot private chamber of their chosen stylist, massage therapist, or aesthetician. Stylist Lindsey's colorful feather hair extensions (a $50 value), made with genuine rooster feathers, accent native head-plumage with hues ranging from hot pink to silver, each sure to attract admiring glances and migrating birds. The stylish strands won't damage their home-grown neighbors, and, once clamped in, can be brushed, blow-dried, straightened, or curled at temperatures up to 450 degrees. Like normal hair, the extensions last up to four months before leaving patrons for someone else.

The owner of Love Me 'Do is not content to give her customers just pretty fingernails—nails should be "spunky," too. To that end, the nail artists at the full-service salon offer custom, hand-painted nail art, ranging from geometric designs to fun images to team insignia. Even regular mani-pedis leave digits sparkling, though, with bright polish and perfectly trimmed nails. Beyond nails, clients can also stop in at the shop to get their hair cut or styled with a body wave or perm.

Since 2001, when Sophisticuts Salon first swung open its doors, its stylists, aestheticians, and massage therapists have created an environment of head-to-toe pampering. While 27 stylists tend to keratin treatments and highlights, the salon staff keeps busy with deep-tissue massages, body sugaring, anti-aging facials, and pedicure services that remind clients which little piggy went to market.
